Powers of the Federal and State Government Powers and Limitations of the Federal Government The Constitution of the United States gives the federal government two basic types of powers, and those powers are delegated powers and implied powers. I will begin my discussion with delegated powers. Firstly, delegated powers are authorities that are explicitly given by the U.S. Constitution to our federal government, as written in Article 1, Section 8. Secondly, implied powers are authorities that are granted to the federal government in the essential and correct section of Article 1, Section 8 of our Constitution that permits the federal government to perform its appointed authorities by any lawful processes.
The confidence interval for the first group mean is thus (4.1, 13.9). Similarly for the second group, the confidence interval for the mean is (12.1, 21.9). Notice that the two intervals overlap. However, the t-statistic for comparing two means is: t= 17 − 9 2.5 2 + 2.5 2 = 2.26 which reflects that the null hypothesis, that the means of the two groups are the same, should be rejected at the α = 0.05 level. To verify the above conclusion, consider the 95 percent confidence interval for the difference between the two group means: (17 − 9 ) ± 1.96 × 2.5 2 + 2.5 2 which yields (1.09, 14.91).

SOLVE (continue): Give a 95% large sample confidence interval for p1 − p2. A. 0.1764 to 0.3762 B. 0.1800 to 0.3804 C. 0.2561 to 0.3643 D. 0.2295 to 0.3309 The sample proportions are pˆ1 = 73 / 158 = 0.4620 and pˆ2 = 26 / 143 =0.1818, and the 95% confidence interval is pˆ1 − pˆ2 ± 1.96 √ pˆ1 (1 − pˆ1) + pˆ2 (1 − pˆ2) = 0.2802 ± 0.1002 = 0.1800 to 0.3804. 158 143 Right Points Earned: 1/1 Correct
