Dear Editor, I would like to respond to Hans Wergin’s letter about abandoned dogs. I strongly disagree with Hans Wergin and feel that his idea of making people register as dog owners is of little value. The government should take other actions for tackling this severe problem. According to SPCA, the stray dog population in Hong Kong is escalating continuously. Dogs will be forced to take euthanasia if they were not adopted for a period of time.
Those who against animal experiments insist that those painful experimentation on animals should be halted. The pain is not moral whether it is experienced by a child, an adult, or an animal. If it is wrong to impose pain on a human being, it is also wrong on an animal. But many people argue that halting animal experiments would end the progress of science and actually human are taking gain from those experiments. Animal experiments should be acceptable if the pain is minimized in all experiments.
Rough Draft Should the state execute dogs that have bitten someone? Bitten by dogs is becoming more and more common these days. But should the states execute the dogs? No, they shouldn’t because what if they only had bitten people out of self defense, or because they were trained that way, and what if it was an accident? These are things you need to think about before agreeing to it.
An environmental theory that has come about because of the issues of treating animals as people has been whether or not the animals kept in captivity will face the loss of their habitat, will face the detrimental effects of global warming with no way to be rescued and also may be targeted by hunters. “Others worry about animals themselves. Steve Feldman, spokesman for the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, says that keeping and breeding animals in captivity is sometimes the only way to safeguard a species. Opponents of captivity, he argues, too often ignore the reality of habitat loss, global warming, hunters, and poachers threatening species in the wild,” according to Berdik (2013). It is a very real possibility that by releasing an animal from captivity and essentially treating them as a human that the animal could face complete loss of their natural habitat and may end up extinct or near-extinct due to hunters targeting them.
Not, only is it an infringement on peoples Second Amendment rights, it will also punish hunters and sportsman whom us firearms to hunt for enjoyment. It would also limit the ways individuals protect themselves and their families. Gun control is not the answer. Guns to some people are evil, because of the violence and death the can create. However, other people see them in a completely different light.
Breed Specific Legislation, or BSL, is a law or ordinance passed by a legislative body pertaining to a specific breed or breeds of domesticated animals. BSL is known to those who oppose it as “Bull Shit Legislation.” In practice, BSL generally refers to laws or ordinances pertaining to a specific dog breed or breeds. BSL is a set of public policy laws designed to reduce the amount of dog bite-related injury and death. Lawmakers attempt to face this problem by examining the statistics surrounding dog bites and legislating against certain breeds. By far, the most common breeds focused upon are the pit bull type breeds.
[animal-testing.procon.org] Researchers in Aston University have made it known that it is not worth taking the lives of these animals for testing, because the things we’re trying to make happen with human bodies is very different from the animal body. The anatomic, metabolic, and cellular differences between animals and people make animals poor models for human beings. There is a big percentage from the 1950’s up till now that animal testing is flawed by not being correct when it is given to the people it is for. So why not just stop the animal experiments that are not just killing, but also torturing the animals.
Nick Ogden Mr. Wilson English 12 5 November 2008 War: Man v. Man, or Animal v. Animal? Killing another human is a difficult task, but what if it was only the helmet being shot ay not the person wearing it? In the mind, would it be easier to try to “kill the helmet” than to think about ending another life forever? In All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque, there are multiple instances where his main character Paul uses animals as a metaphor to dehumanize war. When actually describing soldiers in a human form, it is only to express despair and regret.
According to Joyce Tischler of the Animal Legal Defense Fund, she says “there is nothing good for them in entertainment”. This is absolutely correct; why do the animals that are wild have to be playing roles in movies and not being free? This is only one fact which proves that animals shouldn’t be having roles in films/movies. Another reason that animals shouldn’t be working in films is that, according to “Beasts of Burden”, many animal-rights advocates believe that pushing a wild animal to behave in a certain way at a certain time is unnatural, stressful, and potentially dangerous for the animal. This means an animal can be stressed out and because of this have health problems, or even die!
In other words, when Chu suggests that eating dog meat is wrong, he should also consider whether it is ethical to eat beef or port. So to me, Chu’s tries to let us repented and to support his argument is weak. The end of the interview seems interesting to me. Chu worries that “the audience may feel touched for an hour but the next day they still have to face the pressures of society.” And he demands for “more media coverage of matters that touch human feelings.” He is very general to talk about this situation, but he doesn’t give a
