I feel that’s an inequality, because when people do not want to look after there area or things start going down hill instead of helping prevent it the problems get worse and people move away. The police and other authorities are helping to prevent it which is good but the people in the community need to see what’s happening and help. All these things add up and make a lot of little inequalities along City Road. In conclusion. I would say there are a number of inequalities that shape City Road, How it works and how the people work.
Inequality is a term used to describe the unequal distribution of valued social resources therefore its an unfair situation, in which some groups in society have more money, opportunities or power than others. In both study materials, the making social lives DVD and Learning Companion 1, we look at City Road. This road consists of lots of different shops, majority of which are restaurants and takeaways targeted at the local ethnic minority and student populations. After studying both study materials I have come to acknowledge the many different inequalities on City Road. The first inequality I will talk about is an Ethnic inequality.
The lack of competition means that prices are unlikely to fall. Commuters do however have the choice of travelling via another mode of transport, such as by car or coach. However, congestion of the roads during rush hour make it an impractical option, hence, the substitutes for trains are very weak. This means train companies gain even more pricing power as they know that even with higher fairs, consumers are unlikely to switch to substitutes because the substitutes will be very inefficient. Commuters travelling during off-peak periods, between the same two stations are likely to have a much lower fare than those travelling during peak hour periods.
This may affect the service user in such a way that they may feel they they are not wanted. They may feel that the service that they hoped for is not actually what is seems and may make the service user feel insecure and depressed. This could then lead to an infringement of rights. Health and social care professionals have a duty to promote the rights of their patients and service users and to challenge those people who may infringe the rights of others. In the past, services have been accused of not letting service users know about some of the facilities that could be available to them: this is because practitioners knew there was no funding available to support the provision of the service.
This means there is a lot of street parking and with there being so many junctions coming off Frodingham road, there is a lot of traffic. As a result of this it’s common for there to be accidents involving vehicles. This is a negative for Frodingham Road as people avoid using it as they aren’t confident in their safety which means they are losing out actually seeing the different things the road has to offer. On the road there is a club called the Britannia. During the day this is used as a restaurant, which welcomes everybody from children to older people.
This causes many issues with people and society. There becomes an unneeded amount of people on the streets. This is an ethical problem because the people who choose to be on the streets could be off of the streets but they choose to be lazy and unmotivated although they shouldn’t be because they can relieve themselves of the predicament they are in. This is ethically wrong because people shouldn’t be homeless by choice. It’s not okay because it causes more money to be wasted towards people that shouldn’t be helped at all.
Cities often find themselves unable to sustain the shelter needs of the homeless population, primarily due to financial constraints. City management tries to implement policies best for traditional and homeless residents, but it is difficult to achieve a mix that accommodates both. Cities usually offer some form of shelters. However, availabilities are temporary and not guaranteed. Often city policies are against loitering, panhandling, sleeping in public or in cars.
• Lack of communication due to distance. • Employees at both regional & city level may be lacking a broader understanding of the business or other departments. • Duplication of tasks and inefficient use of resources. • Dilutes accountability, the HQ functional AD and regional managers may have conflicting interest and expectations from employees and can continue to increase dysfunctional conflict and ambiguity. • Require more control because there is lower coordination between the units.
Those that would most enjoy this image would be police officers because they’re the ones that have to stop and give out tickets to people who are texting and driving. So they would like to see this up on bill boards so that people can see what texting can cause. If more people see this image on the streets then the chances are people will stop endangering themselves and focusing on the road. Therefore that would lower the rate of accidents due to the texting and police officers would not have to make so many traffic stops. People would profit from this image because now most of the time people would make the right choice by not texting.
More people are becoming homeless but more services are not being provided for them. Shelters are forced to turn people away because of overcrowding or lack of resources. Unfortunately the laws make it hard for those who are turned away. Many laws across the country are in place that prohibit sleeping in public places, or that allow the homeless to be removed from certain locations. These laws make the necessities of being homeless criminal.
