He believed that all students should have the opportunity to take part in their own learning. Education was not only a place to gain content knowledge, but was a place to learn how to live. Schools shouldn’t just be a place to learn a pre-determined set of skills but rather to realize one’s full potential and their ability to use these skills. He said, “An ounce of experience is better than a ton of theory, simply because it is only in the experience that any theory has vital and verifiable significance.” In Dewey’s opinion the role of teachers are social servants. They are there to assist children on how to act appropriately on ideas they form themselves.

NAEYC Codes of Ethics Core Values *Appreciate childhood as a unique and valuable stage of the human life. Appreciating childhood could affect teaching in the classroom because you would know how to teach them better. I think that you would also be able to come up with more developmentally appropriate activities for the children. *Base our work on knowledge of how children develop and learn. By basing knowledge on how children develop and learn, it can help make more developmentally appropriate activities.
They need to work on their lesson plans for the younger toddlers who attend their center in the morning to the afternoon. Other than that, they can only hope to better their environment and do whatever they can to help the children learn and grow at their center. They truly are passionate about their work, and it is evident that their children appreciate the center and the staff. It was a great experience meeting and interviewing people with such
Then when I studied and got a good grade I was like “wow, I can do this” and felt a beam of confidence that I could do it for other classes as well. Adapting to the schoolwork is a big part of having confidence in the classroom because you understand what is being taught. Gatto said “schools are establish fixed habits of relation to authority. This of course, precludes critical judgement completely.”(152). Gatto is saying that schooling is made for kids to adapt to; it has adaptive qualities, therefore there is a chance for everyone to succeed if they really want to, but it takes away from any individual thinking.
I feel if you don’t understand the point of something, what is the point of learning? Children weren’t explained anything! All they did was copy what the teacher would write and that’s all they needed to know. In working-class schools you would do as told with no questions asked. Middle-class schools focused around finding and then explaining how something was right.
Along with positives for the students, there are positives for the teacher’s also. Teachers have a framework for understanding what students have learned or should have learned before arriving in the classroom (Gardner and Powell, 2013). The focus on skill doesn’t mean teachers should abandon the content but rather it also offers a clear framework of what skills the student should be able to do instead of what they should know (content). Common core standards are a good step in clearly defining what students need to know and be able to

This data is then mined for implications - did the lesson work? Did the students learn the skill we wanted them to learn? Did the lesson cover material the students already knew? How can we improve the lesson next time? School Counselor Performance Standards The ASCA model clearly spells out standards for school counselors.
Multicultural Theme Unit Tiffany Green ECE405 Instructor, Carlee 4/13/2011 In early childhood education it is so important to provide for individual differences adequate learning experiences for our young children especially when teaching a multicultural classroom. We must allow our children to group the concept that we are all different, we are all alike, and we are all capable of learning. Multicultural education means that early childhood education professionals include, accept, and respect each child as an individual. It means that we recognize what each child values and hold dear, and then build those things into the daily life of the early childhood program (York, 2006). The material that can be use for my preschooler, for multicultural education is music, number, nursery rhymes, online activities they all can be use for the preschool program.
