Purpose of the Research Our team went through the data sets and chose the set from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The data set had some unique information you can draw some conclusions or ask several questions regarding the data set. In looking at the data set there was one thing that stood out which the team questioned which was, does the waist circumference make a difference between the systolic blood pressure and the diastolic blood pressure. The team had noticed in recent years the medical community has discussed and reported that there is difference of health issues because the size of your waist. Problem Definition The team came up with two possible problems. The first problem is determining why there are differences in pressures between systolic blood pressure and diastolic pressure because of your waist circumference. In research the team will be able to tell the correlation from bigger and smaller waist circumferences and the pressure differences. The second possible problem is that there is a difference between male and female’s systolic blood and diastolic pressure due the size of the waist circumference. The problem will determine if women and men are different in this issue or are the differences because waist sizes are different between men and women. Research Hypotheses The team has come up with two-research hypotheses we are purposing. The first hypotheses is that the smaller waist circumference, the lower the systolic and diastolic blood pressures versus the larger the waist circumference, the higher the systolic and diastolic blood pressures. The teams goal is to demonstrate that there is no correlation of waist circumference and higher and lower systolic and diastolic blood pressures.
