Dark sides of the globalisation in developing countries Once declared by Thomas Friedman (2005), our world is “flat”; even “smaller” due to the globalization nowadays. Globalisation makes possible free flow of capitals without geographical borders. (Ekmekcioglu, 2012) It accelerates resource consumption. (Anderson, 2010) Internet and media broadcasting technologies spread ideas and beliefs all around the world. (Maryam, 2012; Wendel and Heinrich, 2012) Many new trends and challenges around social, cultural, and environmental changes are inherent with the globalization. Especially, developing countries are more sensitive to both positive and negative impacts of it. (Tomohara and Takii, 2011) Even though many positive effects such as economic development, attraction of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and access to global knowledge for developing countries, (Redzuan, 2012) there are also dark sides of globalisation exist. Damage on national culture, foreign firms’ dominancy in the local markets, and environmental problems caused by globalisation are cannot be neglected easily. First major problem of globalization is damage to the local cultures. (Bianca-Marina, 2011) Day-by-day peoples lifestyles becoming more identical. Food, clothes, movies, music and attitudes; everything is becoming similar in everywhere.
