Angela Lee #13 The dangers of technology are like pi; there is an infinite amount of dangers. Not everyone lets technology take over his or her lives. This way they avoid the dangers of technology. However, many people do. Unfortunately, there are so many different kinds of dangers that can affect people from little children to adults in negative ways. Three dangers of technology are that it causes people to rely on it to their detriment, it replaces many things, and it puts children in dangerous situations. One danger of technology is that it is not reliable. There is false information all over the Internet. In Emily Sohn’s article Internet Generation, Sohn explains that the Internet is not authentic and that it “provid[es] all sorts of information. But not all of that information is reliable or trustworthy” (Sohn 7). Sohn is saying that technology can be useful; however, it is not always the source that he or she can always depend on. False information can lead to wrong ideas, which means the Internet can never be relied on all the time. In addition, unexpected problems with technology can happen and one would not be able to rely on it. In Ray Bradbury’s story The Veldt, Mr. Hadley shows that the room is not working by saying, “’The fool room’s out of order . . . It won’t respond’” (Bradbury 4). Mr. Hadley was so used to the nursery always working that he did not expect any problems. But, unpredicted complications can rise and technology will never be always dependable and be available 24/7. With technology not being trustworthy and available all the time, it is very unreliable. Another danger is technology replacing people. Technology replaces people’s ability to do everyday activities. In Bradbury’s story, the children complain about not having the technology to do things for them in this way: “’Would I have to tie my own shoes instead of
