The Frontline documentary also revealed that the internet has allowed kids to escape reality by having a “life” online. The internet helps kids express themselves through websites like MySpace, Facebook and blogs. The documentary goes on about how by letting the students have a life outside of reality can cause kids to have insecurity issues and have negative images for themselves.
The advantages of social media would be to stay in contact with family and friends that are not living close to visit. For example, Facebook is the most viewed media site (Campbell, 2014). It allows people to communicate with people all over the world. Keeping in touch with family via this social media allows pictures to be posted and viewed, videos and other events that would be missed. The disadvantages of social media would be when it’s used inappropriately.

Most people find that looking things up on the internet is distracting because you are already on the web so why not check YouTube for a funny video, or update your status on the social network.
