Dale Earnhardt, Jr. I would like to introduce you to my hero, Dale Earnhardt Jr.I am writing about Dale,Jr, because I consider him my hero.I love the way he drives and wins a lot of Nascar races. Ever since I started watching racing, I picked DaleEarnhardt,Jr.as my favorite driver. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was born on October 10, 1974, in Kannapolis, North Carolina. Dale’s parents were Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Brenda Lorraine Gee. His maternal grandfather, Robert Gee, Sr. was a Nascar car builder. He went to college in Mooresville, North Carolina where he received a two-year automotive degree. Dale began his racing career when he was only 17 years olds. He and his dad raced in the Street Stock division at Concord, North Carolina’s Motorsport Park. His first race car was a Monte Carlo that he and his older half-brother owned together. He worked very hard in order to join the Late Model Stock Car division. While he was there, he learned about chassis and car preparation, while racing with his brother and sister. He also worked at his father’s auto dealership as a mechanic, while he attended Mitchell Community College to earn a degree in automotive technology. Dale ran nine Busch Series races between 1996 and 1997. He finished 13th in the first Busch Series race in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 1996. He won consecutive NASCAR Busch Series Championships in 1998 and 1999. In 1998, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. made his first start in the Winston Cup, at the exhibition race in Japan. He drove in 5 Winston Cup races in the #8 Budweiser Chevrolet for Dale Earnhardt, Inc. In 2000, he started driving full-time in the Winston Cup Series. In 2000, he won the DIRECTV 500 competing against his brother and father in a Winston Cup race in Michigan. That year he finished 16th in the Winston Cup standings, second best in rookies.
