This type of thinking can eventually change your outlook on life, and might get you in trouble in the long run. For instance; you do not think for yourself anymore, you are thinking about what others want you to be, not who you are. My father told me that you do not need to look popular to be popular, it’s your attitude and outlook on life, not your clothing. It’s so sad to see young girls trying to fit in with the older crowd. Teenagers should enjoy their teen life and not try to grow up so fast.
All teens should have a chance to be involved with others in a positive way, and without community groups going out and searching for them, its not going to happen. It is sad to me that people in control who have the opportunity to change lives of young people would rather let them go about their lives rather than coming around them and leading them in the right path.Teens need role models in their lives, and when adults disown them, then they feel worthless. Good role models set positive examples for teenagers and help counter negative influences they meet during teenage years. It is common for teenagers to view movie stars, sports figures, singers and TV actors as role models. While entertainment figures can serve as positive influences, teenagers gain greater influence from role models they can communicate and form relationships with.
Sometimes it can cause a person to lose their sense of purpose in this world and forgetting that God put us all here for a reason. Some people also tend to believe that if you don’t fit in with society that you are not “normal”, the crazy thing is some people are built to not fit in, and we as people have to learn to accept that. Both of these stories ended in misfortune. The society that surrounds you can cause you to blind yourself with the need to fit in which can and will cause an identity issue, but we have to figure is do we have more Evil in us than
Our impression of ourselves may be influenced by other people's opinions of us, but other factors, which are determined by the society around us, contribute towards our impression of who we are. Age Discrimination against people on the basis of their age has become so widespread that the government is drawing up new laws to counter it. Media portrayals of the young and the old suffer from strong stereotypes that affect the way both groups view themselves and each other. Children and teenagers are often characterised as out-of-control, inconsiderate trouble-makers. Old people tend to be stereotyped as frail, forgetful and incapable.
Another reason why people to chose to fail are they worry about other things before their school work. Like friends, games or other activities people may think come first. Once you see you’re having fun doing other things you start to make yourself think that you are doing the right thing. A third reason why some people chose to fail is because they think that the work is pointless. Many people believe that the work they get won’t get them any were in life.
When I criticize and attack myself, it is because knowing I failed makes me think about if i had tried harder then it would have made a difference. Negative self concept is often hidden from the world because we are suppose to perceive ourself with positivity in order to be accepted but that can change. Self concept is basically the beliefs and attitudes we role play in our lives. In How to Improve Your Self Concept, it mentions “your attitudes about yourself may be positive for some roles, and not so positive for others”. There will always be negative views because we do not live even near a Utopia society and we cannot please everybody.
Ignorance and fear are also strong influences simply because people fear what they do not know. Stereotyping may be more influential than anything else. Stereotypes are prevalent everywhere and in everything. When people are grouped into categories, regardless of what they might be, prejudice will most likely occur, and through prejudice comes discrimination. (Wright, 2013) • How is discrimination faced by one identity group (race,
Your physical health would also deteriorate and your social life would also be affected due to your physical appearance and a bad odour radiating around you making it unpleasant for others to be around. It can also make your skin break down which can lead to sores and infections. 2.1 Explain how to address personal hygiene issues with an individual in a sensitive manner without imposing own values I would talk with the individual in a sensitive manner away from others and I would ask the individual what they would rather do or how they would like to it things e.g. their wash routine, or toiletry shop etc. 2.2 Describe how to make an individual aware of the effects of poor hygiene on others If an individual’s poor hygiene was having an effect on others I would sensitively talk to the individual alone to explain that their hygiene level was having an impact on others.
If a teen's family is regularly complaining about his/her body image the teen will complain too. If someone has poor body image it could lead to them doing unhealthy things to reach their desired figure. Some people might go on unhealthy diets or they could start to excessively exercise. Another struggle teenagers face is having parents that have high expectations. This could be a struggle because some parents live their dreams through their children and that pressures them to do more than they are capable of doing.
This would lower Femi’s self-esteem because she blame the discrimination that she receives on her self which could make her question her self-identity. A short term effect of this treatment could be that she loses confidence, which could then mean she becomes isolated. A long term effect of this treatment/discrimination is that Femi could end up self harming, this could be due to the isolation caused and the way she has been made to feel, if her feelings grow stronger and she self harms more she could stop her counselling and physiotherapy and even though things in her home country are bad she may want to leave and end up going back which would put her in more
