The author tried to convince the parent as well as the experts that being a teenager can’t be an excuse for committing sexting by using the logic strategy, “ But this is something that just cannot be dismissed as kids ‘ doing stupid things.’.”, And he or she was trying to convince the audience that the authorities don’t consider these teens a criminals, but they just want to put an end to this “dangerous new trend” as he or she used the ethos strategy, ”Authorities aren’t convicting children, but using the law as teaching tool and trying to put stop to a toxic new trend.” . The author used a pathos appeal when talking to the oppose experts by mentioning the sad story of Jessie’s subside, “ Bertani must not have heard of the Cincinnati suicide.” ; Also he or she used a logos appeal to convince the experts that this “dangerous new trend” is not a private issue and it is also due to the irresponsibility of the parent to their teens: “ The civil libertarians may wish to consider their position. They claimed it is a private matter best resolved by parental responsibility. Would it follow that their parental irresponsibility should make the parent the legally liable
Video games are not the source of violence but they are consistently blamed; parents need to make sure that their own children are not exposed to media hype that would be considered as violent or damaging to their own kids. The media truly believes they are the scapegoat for anything that goes wrong with today’s society. Today’s parents are naïve and ignorant to the fact that they do not know how to regulate the things their children watch and they cannot control their own kids behavior so they immediately point the blame on someone else. They need to teach their children good morals and show them how playing with guns can change their lives forever. People who own guns need to keep them put away and out of the reach of children.
When people think of school, a safe environment for students to learn comes to mind. Students learn knowledge happily and safety. However, when people think about gun, they always think about violence, danger and unsafe environment. Therefore, an environment for safe learning should not have guns. The school hires school security to protect the campus and they should be enough protection.
The laws include cyber bullying, however the focus is “bullying” in general. Many states enforce the local school districts to pass a policy (Social Safety, 2008). New York State has proposed to increase the penalty of hazing from misdemeanor to felony. By education law they will prohibit “bullying and cyber bullying” on school property, including a school function (Cyber Bullying Research Center, 2011). Although laws are being passed to prevent cyber bullying on school property, it is still occurring because of many educators that feel unprepared or unwilling to handle these situations.
As adults we owe it to children to ensure their safety against sexual predators among us, online and off. There are many programs at schools and at community centers that makes children aware of some dangers to look for when approached by someone you don’t know. Some things these places can’t teach our children and so that is where we come in as parents. With monitoring our child’s behavior and talking to our children to make sure they understand that there are bad people out there and how to make themselves aware of this. A few things I like that the schools teach, is the buddy system and to scream or make as much noise when someone
In the article “From Lockers to Lockup” Jessica Bennett argues about the issue of bullying. Bennett believes that bullying is bad and questions are schools really the problem of bullying? Can they really do much about it? I agree with her questionings, for example she claims that “cases like this are being invoked as a potent symbol for why, in the digital age, schools need bullying policies and states need legalization” (Bennett). This is true to the point that the schools are already doing all it can do to prevent bullying, however legalizing it has to be the next step so people can become more aware of the seriousness this is.
It will then explain some of the advantages and why it should not be banned by parents. It has been argued that the freedom of children and teenagers to use the internet may lead them to experience serious problems by accessing inappropriate content (Raising Children Network 2012, p4). There will be a possibility for children to unintentionally click harmful sites that contain violence, videos of naked people and vulgar materials that can affect their mental development. However, parents can control children’s online activity to address this problem. For instance, do not let them get online in a private room, such as their bedroom, so it will be easier to keep an eye on their activity.
there is no solid proof that the media causes violence, and although parents do a lot to help and protect their children, there are still some steps that can be taken to protect their children against violent and sexual material. Government intervention not stands for it. Violence starts at home, not on TV or in a computer game. America needs to stand together and fight youth violence and promiscuous sex without taking away the rights of citizens. We all want to help America's youth, but Government intervention (stronger enforcement of existing laws or new legislation) into availability of popular culture media would not help to reduce violence and promiscuous sex among America's
Yell explains the current laws and regulations on disciplining students in special education. Throughout the chapter Yell breaks down the different aspects of discipline in schools in regards to special education. Yell starts out explaining the procedural due process used to create fair polices. Yell also talks about how schools are given the power to act as parent for the child while they are at school. This does not mean that parents have no rights to what happens to their child while they are at school but this allows school to guide student behaviors though discipline.
We have to act fast and get these laws in place so that our children will not ruin their lives becoming sex offenders. Parents need to educate, and discuss sexting with their children and pay attention to what is going on. Parents need to pay attention to what their children are doing on their cell phones. While the internet has parental controls on which websites the children may go to, cell phones do not have that ability. Do not feel like it is an invasion of privacy to look at your kid’s text messages.
