Students must feel safe and secure in their class in order to learn and grow in education. In order to control these types of behaviors the teacher must first recognize the misbehavior and handle it in a professional manner from the onset. Students learn from example as much as from example. Teacher set the example. They can do this by putting a stop to the disruption and using it as a learning experience for all the other students.

For example, when we are in class, the teacher has to conduct her lesson in a manner which we all can understand; this is done in a clear, loud and slow way. When using verbal communication, teachers use a variety of questions to their pupil to get them involved in the lesson and to find out more about them. For example, a teacher every so often gives out homework assignments, when the homework is due; the teacher asks the pupil “have you done your homework?” The student will then answer. Another example of this is, when a teacher is conducting a lesson the teacher will test a pupil by asking him/her a question about the work.
Self Management The students should be made aware of what their responsibilities are and exactly what is expected of them. When students are confronted with precise responses and required behaviors, it allows them to build a framework or foundation for everything they will encounter for that particular year. They are given tools to govern their work, their play, their interactions with other students, their teachers and staff. They know who they are, where they belong, what role they play, and have an understanding of their individual importance in the bigger picture of school, home and life. This knowledge provides immense security and a sense of well-being.

The best way to establish a respectful and professional relationship with adults is by always making sure you dress appropriately adults when working with children and young people should dress appropriate to their role, their clothing should not offend anyone. Your clothing should not be distracting to others and should most definitely not be discriminating in any way. Take notes when speaking with the class teacher/head teacher so you can refer back to them if needed. Always clarify what has been asked of you to make sure you have got it correct.

Functional Area I: Safety I fine it is very important to be safety conscious at all times of the day and demonstrate safety procedure with my students and provide information to parents to help reinforce safety at home. When entering the learning facility, I immediately began to scan the environment to make certain that the all areas in my classroom are free of any inappropriate items or substances. I constantly discuss with the students the indoors and outdoors safely rules; like walking, and using your hands for crafty creating or helping your friends or catching a ball, waving hello or good bye, and be thoughtful by putting away toys when you are finishing playing. I get great pleasure at hearing the children remind each other of the safely rules.
An educator should constantly be revising lesson plans and expanding their own knowledge in order to deliver an optimal learning experience for the students. Incorporating guidelines to educate students without bias into a code of ethics ensures that students receive equal treatment in the classroom. An educator’s primary concern should be the physical and mental well being of the student. This being said, it is the responsibility of the educator to be vigilant of a student’s physical and emotional behavior while in the classroom. Child abuse is a dilemma that may be encountered when working as a professional educator in the school system.
