Current Personal Philosophy of Classroom Management Grand Canyon University: EDU-450 1/14 1. A teacher should act in the following ways: * Communicate in a way that is age-appropriate for the students in the classroom. * Always remain professional. I will never lose my cool when dealing with an uncomfortable situation. * Firm but approachable. Though I am a stickler for the rules, my demeanor is such that a student will always feel comfortable to ask me anything they need help with. * Honesty. I never want to lead my students and their parents into believing anything but the truth. It’s not always easy telling a parent their child isn’t reaching milestones. However, this allows me to work together with the child and their parents to correct the problem. 2. Expectations of how students should behave: * Respectful of all objects in the classroom, of how they talk to adults (teachers and parents), and of their fellow classmates * To follow directions at all times. * To use their manners and be courteous at all times. * Honesty. Our students are encouraged to do their own work. Cheating is a huge infraction. * Raise your hand to answer/ask questions. This expectation eliminates students yelling over each other when communicating with teachers. 3. The classroom should look and feel like: * Accessibility. All the items/objects in the classroom are at their eye level. Nothing is high up but instead where they can reach it themselves. * Student’s work is displayed throughout the classroom. They love seeing their items on the walls. It boost their confidence and self-esteem. * The feel of the classroom is friendly and fun. The room is there for my students to explore and have fun doing so. * Organized. The room is divided into different centers the students pick
