Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

Christopher John Francis Boone is one of many people that suffer from autism. In the book The Curious Incident of the dog in the Night-Time, the main character, Christopher, is a 15 year old boy with a mild form of autism. His disability limits him to doing certain things, however, it gives the readers a perspective on a life that is lived with autism. His greatest accomplishments are shown to the readers through his narration. Christopher struggles with social activity and interaction among others. He also has a hard time contemplating everything he is told. He may be told too many things at once, which causes to him to be confused and upset. “ He was asking too many questions and he was asking them too quickly” (Haddon,7). When Christopher is under pressure, he starts to panic and do things that other people might not do when they’re overwhelmed. “ I rolled back onto the lawn and pressed my forehead to the ground again and made the noise that Father calls groaning” (Haddon,7). Some people like the thought of being touched or cuddled, however, Christopher cannot stand the thought of being touched. “ The policeman took hold of my arm and lifted me onto my feet. I didn’t like him touching me like this. And this is when I hit him” (Haddon,8). Christopher’s learning disabilities do affect him, but do not stop him from pursing his dreams. He knew he wanted to write a book about a murdered dog he found, and he did. There were some obstacles while writing the book, but he managed to push and get through it all. Even though he does not enjoy talking to people, he did to find out more information about the dog. Christopher’s math skills are outstanding and they definitely helped him out a couple of times in the book. Later in the reading, Christopher finds out that his mother is living in London, and he is determined to go and see her. While in the train station, he
