A. The purpose of this paper is to research and compare and contrast the language, family life, music, food and art of the Hispanic and the African American cultures in the state of Texas. D. The purpose of this paper is to research and compare and contrast the language, family life, music, food, and art of the Hispanic and the African American cultures in the state of Texas. The Hispanic and African American culture have many common themes and ideas. I’m going to discuss the languages, the family life, the music, food, and the art of these two cultures. Language is the written and spoken word the culture. This can vary even within the same culture. Family life is the living arrangements, the number of people living in a home, the traditions that the culture may have and how this relates to the people. Music can vary within each culture as well. This can be songs that are passed down from generation to generation or it can be songs that are typical of the culture. There are artists that are specific to each culture. Types of traditional food for each culture are unique to the culture. The types of seasonings and the different dishes that are prepared vary within the culture and also vary by culture. Artists and the art they create can be distinguished by culture depending on what is being depicted and how it is depicted. E.1 The Hispanics that are here in Texas have emigrated from Mexico. According to Kanellos, there is a trend in the movement of the Hispanics into Texas. (Kanellos,1993) During the years of 2000 and 2006 there were three times as many immigrants that moved from Mexico to Texas.(United States Census Bureau, 2009). Texas is on the border of Mexico so it was not a permanent migration because it was easy for the Hispanics to go back and forth to Mexico. The language that is mostly spoken in the Hispanic culture is Spanish.
