Families in Canada face many issues which causes difficulties for them to adjust in a new setting. One of the several reasons is language barrier. Language is a very important way of interacting with people around us in our everyday lives. We use language to let others know about how we feel, what we need, and to ask questions in order to understand the world around us. This issue is affecting immigrant families, children and child care setting because they are unable to communicate in English very well and this barrier affects them emotionally, physically and mentally.
People’s attitude towards the use of standard and non-standard English varies depending on their upbringing, culture and subjectiveness ass the two forms of English are different in purpose and are context dependent. The use of non-standard English can be to save time due to its ease in its construction and can also enable communicating ones beliefs and culture. However unlike non-standard English, Standard English make it difficult for interlocutors to build closeness due to it mainly being used to convey prestige, power, formality and professionalism. Due to the advancements in technology, many people have shifted from once using Standard English to now using non-standard English majority of the time. Since Standard English is usually time consuming to construct and difficult to use, people find it easier to use non-standard English, where the governing rules and grammar are more flexible making it efficient and easy to use.

Dissociative states are very different from the outside world and thus can be very harmful to ones life which ultimately limits their perception of reality. CITATIONS Armstrong, Karen.

Secondly, it would make getting a high-paying job in America much easier, due to the fact that they will most likely require you to be able to read/speak english. Finally, it is just completely disrespectful and rude to not speak the native language of where you will soon live. One of the reasons people should be required to speak English in the United States is because going shopping would be a lot more simple on everybody.

It can be a scary experience as children often become confused at the changes to their bodies. It is common for young people to feel self-conscious due to peer pressure and comparing their body changes, to that of their peer group. For refugees and asylum seekers they have to struggle with not only leaving their country but coming into a new country where everything is new to them, some feel pressure from both sides, as they are so used to being one thing and they feel they have to be that way to please their family back home, while the new society they belong to has completely different expectations of them. Whenever I write by hand I have to think a lot harder about how to spell certain words. I notice that my friends also do the same thing and we have to ask each other how words are spelt or if sentences make sense. We have become sort of dependent on word processing. Because of technology my writing has gotten more informal and it's easier to write in a personal or informal tone. Because I use technology so much to communicate to friends and family it is
we speak English. Nevertheless, the English language is one of the more difficult languages to learn and I can understand why many immigrants may feel overwhelmed and intimidated when faced with learning a whole new language. This is why, I believe, the U.S. should implement a required program specifically designed to aid incoming immigrants in learning English. This would especially be constructive for those entering the workforce and will absolutely have a positive effect on the future of those that complete the program. Although, at this point in time, the United States does not have a National language I still believe a helpful program should be put into action.
