THE CUBBY COLLECTION. ‘Cubby and The Big Tree.’ Written by Carrie-Anne Corns. © Carrie-Anne Corns May 2013 THE CUBBY COLLECTION. ‘Cubby and The Big Tree.’ Once upon a time in a land that was very beautiful, there lived a small boy called Jacob, but all his friends called him ‘Cubby’. He had bright blonde, spiky hair and crystal clear blue eyes. He was 8 years old and he was a very nice boy. Everyone loved him and wanted to play with him all the time. One day when the sun was shining brightly, Cubby decided he would go and play in the nearby forest. Now Cubby was in a very grumpy mood because he had been made to do his homework before he was allowed out and so he decided that he didn’t want to play with any of his friends and that he wanted to be alone. Now as Cubby was walking along, he came across two of his very good friends playing together. “Hi Cubby, do you want to play with us?” asked his friend. “No, I’m going to the shops,” said Cubby with a grumpy voice. “Can we come?” they asked eagerly. “No, my mum said I’ve got to go on my own.” Cubby was of course lying and he was lying because he really didn’t want to be around his friends or play with them. So, Cubby stormed off leaving his friends very confused and a little bit upset. They wondered why they weren’t allowed to play with Cubby. Further on down the road, Cubby came to another one of his friends riding on his bike. “Hi Cubby, do you want to come to my house and play?” he asked grinning at his friend. He loved playing with Cubby because he was so kind and fun. “No I don’t!” shouted Cubby annoyed. “I’m going to the shops for my mum and I’ve got to hurry home!” Cubby had lied yet again because he didn’t want to play with his friends.
