CU1515 INTRODUCTION TO COMMUNICATION IN HEALTH, SOCIAL CARE. 1.1 Identify different reasons why people communicate. People communicate. so they can express and share ideas, feelings, needs, wishes and preferences for obtaining and receiving information and for getting to know each other. 1.2 Explain how effective communication affects all aspects of own work. Effective communication can affect teamwork and recording information and reporting the information. 1.3 Explain why it is important to observe an individual’s reactions when communicating with them. It is important to observe an individual’s reaction so that you can understand what the individual is trying to express and also to meet the individual’s needs. 2.1 Find out an individual’s communication and language needs, wishes and preferences. It is important to find out an individual’s language needs so that you can help them with any tasks that they cannot carry out themselves also to help them feel included within the home and to prevent them from becoming frustrated because they cannot express their needs. You can find this information in there care plan. 2.2 Demonstrate communication methods that meet an individual’s communication needs, wishes and preferences. Communication methods can be visual aids using the individual’s body language giving the individual time to speak. 2.3 Show how and when to seek advice about communication. You can seek advice from the homes manager about communication. You can also loo in a individual’s care plan. 3.1 Identify barriers to communication. Barriers in communication are, not having visuals aids when needed.
