A Pavlovic ENG-2D Ms. Prasow Friday, December 18th 2009 No Country for Old Men In the novel No Country for Old Men there are many different factors then in the movie. The setting is told different than in the movie. Also the novel does a better way of demonstrating suspense then in the movie because in the novel it feels more real, and there is a lot more detail. Another factor that is different in the novel than in the movie is the style of English. In the novel the writing is older; in the movie it’s more present.
I enjoyed both movies but in a different way when it came to the Asian philosophy and how they do things differently than the American philosophy. The movies that I have chosen to take a look at were The Karate Kid from 1984 and then the newer one from 2010. I feel that The Karate Kid from 1984 portrayed more meaning to its story when it came to discipline, learning, lessons, and challenges. I think the other movie had good traits as well, but being that it was an older movie, movie with older characters, we here many people say that older people are always wiser of things that are said and that is being done. I felt that The Karate Kid from 1984 displayed more traits effectively rather than the one from 2010 when it came to discipline, challenges, and bonding moments.

In the old movie the characters were much younger but in the new film they were much older and mature. The characters also differ with their style; this is also because of the time they were shooting it in. The main character changed a bit as well, in old movie he looked more horrifying as they used grim which was very detailed but in the new movie they used it as well but it looks like they try to keep in more modern and make him look a bit cooler as well as adding new stuff like making claws sharper and longer. I think this is were the old movies have a difference with new movies. The old ones used to make it more horrifying and disgusting, and this is why I thought the first Nightmare On Elm Street was more scarier then a remake.
If you watched the movie and read the book you might think the same thing, you might not, but here are the reasons that I think the book is better even if the movie wasn’t that bad either. There was many similarities between the book and the movie. In the book and movie Johnny and Pony boy kill Bob and they run away to the

The Monkey King’s arrogance and feud with the King of Heaven had landed him under a pile of rocks for 500 years (Yang, American Born Chinese 84). His only way to freedom came from a humble monk sent by the King. The Monkey Kings charge was to reconcile the fact that he was indeed a monkey, to accept being the monks disciple, and to “return to your true form and you shall be freed” (Yang, American Born Chinese 145). He stubbornly refused, causing the monk to be in grave danger. As a last chance at freedom, the Monkey King returned to his true identity, saved the monk, obtained his freedom, and happily served the monk and the King of Heaven faithfully.
