According to the case, as a nurse responsible for the patient as a nurse must be aware that Mrs. Flynn has early dementia and must be observed and check for side rails up to prevent fall and injury. Due to the case that Mrs. Flynn falls from the bed and suffer from a bruise on the forehead because of the negligence of one member of the staff responsible for her. Then, when seeing Mrs. Flynn fall down, a nurse must treat the situation quickly, and stay with the patient and call for an assistant nurse to help her and inform the doctor. (Hicks, 2016) In addition, the nurse should assess the patient because she may develop symptoms later that can show serious changes in their state, and assess the pain and conscious level. Although, If the patient
The medication throughout the hospital should be kept safely locked away and always checked to see if the patients have been given the right amount. If the patient had been given more than the required amount then they could result in severe illness or even worse, death. Surgery Surgery is a health, safety and a security hazard. When getting surgery the doctors or nurses must ensure that the procedure is done correctly as if not done to high standards then the patient could result in getting infected which could lead to illnesses. Also, after the procedure is complete the tools and equipment used must be disposed of properly by being put into the yellow hazard bags and placed into waste bins.
The supervisor sees that the child has a deep wound to his forehead and blood is gushing out. Also the child complains that he cannot move his arm. The supervisors priority is to make sure all the other children are away from the area and should call for assistance. An ambulance should be called by one of the free supervisors and also the parent or guardian should be informed. The parent/guardian should be made aware of what has happened and should know what hospital the child is being taken to.
I feel the appropriate standard of care for the case study would be for the doctor to perform the procedure. Since the patient is incoherent and can’t decide for herself. The wounds from falling must have been bad enough were it could have been too dangerous to wait for the kin to agree to care or the patient. In these situations I think it’s up to the medical staff mainly physician to decide what is appropriate care at the time. The patient had a severe head wound which needed attention right away.
Unit tile: Handle information in health and social care settings URN: J/601/8142 Credit vaule:1 Level 2 By briony blowfield 1.2 explain why it is important to have secure systems for recording and sorting information in health and social care setting We do not want other residents to gain access or read private information about each other. We need to think about the visitors who come in they too should not have access to anyone else’s medical notes or the care they are receiving. The person receiving care could become embarrassed by other people knowing. It is information to make sure information is kept private and confidents as we do not want the wrong information to go in the wrong hands. Unit One: Promote communication in Health care. There are many different ways of communicating with people other than talking. Up to 90% of communication is non-verbal such as touch, facial expressions and gestures (as indicated in source one); these communication methods are vital when communicating with a person who has dementia because in most cases as dementia progresses the person begins to lose their language skills. When approaching a person with dementia always walk towards them from the front or within their line of vision, greet the person as you would anyone else and face them as you speak. If possible try to avoid a setting where it is noisy and turn down the volume on anything in the room to gain full concentration.

It is known that people who are kept artificially living undergo risks and discomfort. These patients, along with their family and their hospital, suffer the consequences of supporting artificial life. The continuing practice of keeping comatose individuals on life support should be eradicated because of the agony that is faced by the patients, families, and hospitals. Life support is a set of therapies for preserving a patient’s life when that patient’s necessary body systems are not properly functioning to maintain life unaided (Gunsch). Life support may begin with basic CPR.
When a patient or doctor gives a medical assistant information, the medical assistant should repeat it back to them to make sure that the information they have is correct. A medical assistant would not want to get the patients information incorrect and messed up. Miscommunication and poor listening skills can jeopardize the health and well-being of a patient. As I stated before about getting the patients information incorrect, could have them misdiagnosed. That could be a lawsuit waiting to happen.
