Their relationship is very traditional and conventional like the sonnet. Likewise, it also shows that even through the dramatic wedding scenes and accusations, Hero and Claudio still did eventually get married in the end. This emphasizes how even throughout these circumstances their true love preserves as in the sonnet 116 it says, “Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks.” Shakespeare seems to allude that a
In Sonnet 116, each quatrain is an idea, contained in a single sentence. The enjambment allows the ideas to continue, without breaking the regular rhythm. This flow of ideas allows Shakespeare to convey his positive outlook on love whereas Duffy portrays a negative view of love through her use of enjambment. This is due to phrases ending in the middle of
While having a very effective sentence structure and word choice as the basis of her argument, she also used English and Spanish to build up her ethos, as an example “When Flavio accidentally hammered his thumb, he never yelled “Ouch!” he said “Ay!” (Cisneros 596), and then she trying to use the audience’s weakness for love stories to persuade her opinion upon them. In this story the author really wants to convey how great is the Spanish Language in comparison to English. In her writing, She uses a bunch of really nice long descriptions appealing to the reader’s sense of pathos side to get them to really feel good about the language of Spanish. For example, “…those words smelled like your house, like flour tortillas, and the inside of your daddy’s hat…” (Cisneros 596). At the same time she then uses pathos in the other way and gives no such description about English instead makes it sound dark and unappealing.
I love obvious and in fact simple sentences like “love is more beneficial than hate“. I mean everybody knows that love is more beneficial than hate, but she uses such statements, because they are easy to understand and therefore they aren‘t hard to remember and you keep them in mind. It emphasizes the importance of love as the number one thing for a peaceful life. In this paragraph she also talks about forgiveness and charity. Terrible things happened to her, especially in her childhood.
In Act 1 scene 5, Lady Macbeth describes Macbeth to be “full of the milk of human kindness” Shakespeare uses this phrase to acknowledge Macbeths virtues, however lady Macbeth cunningly uses his kindness as a fault of his own, as she shays that he is “too full” of kindness. This shows that Shakespeare can cleverly uses short sentences, to build up qualities of the charter without the need to write them. Lady Macbeths tone also changes when she says “what thou wouldst highly, that what wouldst holily.” There are no stage directions to state her tone changes to a deep whisper; however Shakespeare has used the meaning of words to show a tone of the voice change. We can clearly see that lady Macbeth has made her mind up to kill Duncan, because she says, “the fatal entrance of Duncan”. Macbeth describes Lady Macbeth to be his “dearest love” when he enters the scene this shows that they have a strong loving relationship, and Lady Macbeth gets straight to the point with her plans, she comes in strong and confident so he cannot undermine her.
I enjoy the mother’s outlook of the Joshua tree in this quote, it’s very positive, and reminded me of someone I know. When I read this part of the book I immediately thought of her. Also, I think it is interesting how the mother sees how the abstractness of the wind beaten Joshua tree as beauty, just as I would. I think this quote is important to the story because to me, it is a representation of Rex and Rose Mary’s relationship. Rosemary is much more optimistic, and artsy.
Holden admires Phoebe because she is the true, pure representation of childhood; in essence, she has all the qualities in a person that he admires. He appreciates her credibility, and her desire to be different to the rest of the world. When Holden is reading her notebook, he states that he could read it all day and all night long. What makes this notebook so appealing is its lack of pretension and falsity; Phoebe simply wrote exactly what she was thinking, and this is one of the reasons why he loves her so much. He also admires how she is a pure soul, untainted by the rest of the adult world.
I like the friendship between Miles and Phelps because they get closer as the book goes on. I also liked the relationship that Miles and Angie have and how it explains that she used to be his babysitter before he had a crush on her. The fact that Miles’s parents get a divorce and separate during the book is realistic because that happens right now in modern times. What is very memorable about Miles is that he is so smart and friendly to people, even to the Elusions. I think that with the title “The Highest Tide”, and the fact that Florence gave the prediction of the highest tide; it’s predictable.
Written by Maurice Yvain and lyrics by Channing Pollack, the song is about her man, that doesn't seem to be the best guy around but he's hers to keep and she loves him so. I love the popular music of back then compared to now because it's all the same. It's all about love, and how unhappy we are but somehow we manage to find happiness through the fight of wanting to be happy. I feel Brice had a very easy time doing this song, not just because she was a fabulous performer but because she had some of her own 'Man' problems of her
The rhyming in this poem is very well structured and continues in the same fashion throughout the poem, e.g. “time...crime”, “way...day.” The fact that the rhyme scheme lasts throughout the entire poem is a parallel to the way that the speaker’s love for “his coy mistress” endures. This engages the reader’s feelings because since the rhyme scheme is so dependable and trustworthy, there is sincerity in his expression of his pure love for her, even though the poem is mostly about his lust and desire. This reminds us that behind all of the lust and fantasy, there is an enduring love for the
