Crisis Situation Coca Cola’s slow development may be recognized to various internal problems associated with top management turnover and departure of key investors, as well as external problems that have led to a loss of reputation. There is no single crisis situation for Coca Cola over last decade. The organization has been questioned in different areas of its operations from product to the relationship with workers .The following incidents exemplify some of the key crises Coca-Cola has faced in the last several years. Contamination Scare Coca-Cola has not always been a squeaky-clean company that never had problems. Their where many ethical issues that arise because Coke was lying to consumers, there was a big dilemma of Coke having a conflict of interest in with the Belgian contamination scare in the year of 1999. During this time of the scare the Belgian officials did a recall on Coca-Cola products because of the number of consumers that became ill after they consumed a Coca-Cola product. Coke was very fast at denying the situation but could not produce a responds to any questions that arise because of the product affecting people. Competitive Issues Coca-Cola started to run into different problems with their marketing in European countries with anti-trust laws. They wanted to create a merger with themselves and Orangina, a French company, but their overaggressive style turned off the other companies in the deal, which became a problem. Their strong-arm tactics proved to be too much for the foreign countries, and creating a competitive advantage seemed to cross the line of the anti-trust laws. Racial Discrimination Charges Internally organization faced the racial discrimination allegations by the African American employees in 1999.
