The Mind of a Serial Killer To explain the phenomenon of a serial killer is an impossible task. The mind of a killer is unique, and so different from other types of killers. My Article on serial killers is written by Barbara C. Wolf and Wendy A. Lavezzi. The title of the article is, “Paths to Destruction: The Lives and Crimes of Two Serial Killers*” and it describes the thoughts behind a serial killer. The article is published by Forensic Science in January 2007 volume number 52.
This is depicted by his extensive knowledge of his business’ operations and, most importantly, the meticulous planning of his murders. Brooks further displays his intelligence when he flies to Palo Alto to commit a murder, involving an axe, similar to the one his daughter commits. This will exonerate his daughter as investigators will determine that the killer is still at large. It takes an exceptionally bright individual to think of something of this nature. In “Natural Born Celebrities: Serial Killers in American Culture,” Ted Bundy was a law student.

President Lincoln’s assassination is one of the most famous murders in history. When Marche makes reference to it referring to what John Wilkes Booth said after he shot him made a powerful push for logos “firing immediately after the line that always got the biggest laugh: “Well, I guess I know enough to turn you inside out, old gal — you sockdologizing old man-trap!” The fact that Booth himself was an actor might play a role in why he said that but why say those words unless it had some underlying meaning? In addition Marche quotes what Booth wrote in his diary after being captured from the police “After being hunted like a dog through swamps, woods, and last night being chased by gun-boats till I was forced to return wet, cold, and starving, with every man’s hand against me, I am here in despair. And why? For doing what Brutus was honored for.” In this quote it Booth clearly states that in his mind during the shooting he thought he was acting as if he were Brutus in “Julius Cesar”.
Sides, Hampton: Hellhound on his Trail: The Stalking of Martin Luther King Jr. and the International Hunt for his Assassin: Doubleday: New York, NY: 2010. The novel Hellhound on his Trail: The Stalking of Martin Luther King Jr. and the International Hunt for his Assassin by Hampton Sides is a well written piece of work because of Sides’s ability to bring together the stories of two men, and dramatize the events leading up to the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. without losing accuracy on the topic. Because Sides was about 6-years-old at the time of Mr. King’s death, his aim was to bring to the surface his perspective of an unforgettable incident that occurred in his life. Altogether, Sides has undertaken an immensely risky proposition to assemble a novel that is not only written with fluency and style, but one that is put into a context so the reader will understand the timeline of events clearly. Undoubtedly, Hampton Sides wrote this novel to inform the reader of the stalking and killing of Martin Luther King Jr. in a way that takes you step by step through the processes of the characters before, during, and after the event.
Robert Pickton is one of Canada’s most notorious serial killers. He was born and raised in Port Coquitlam, BC and that was where he committed his murders. Within this three page report I will be comparing the three social sciences to the crimes committed by Robert Pickton. Pickton was convicted of only 6 murders while he had confessed to at least 49 murders. Psychology If we were comparing Robert Pickton to the theories of some psychologists, like Sigmund Freud for example, would say that in Pickton’s case, his ID is a more dominant thing and that he has a constant urge to seek physical satisfaction.
. . general fan desire to invest in, know more about, and get closer to the famous killer” and involves collecting items such as serial killer art, crime scene materials, action figures of stars like Ted Bundy and even body parts of perceived victims (Jarvis, 2007, p. 326; Kass-Gergi, 2012, p. 9). The glamorization of serial killing is however fanned by a mainstream media obsessed with serial killing, and a culture intent on immortalizing societal deviants and creating celebrities. For instance, Jarvis (2007) observes that when Jeffrey Dahmer’s house of carnage was found in Milwaukee in 1991, television rights to his story were being negotiated within the hour (p. 328).

Criminal Profiling: Serial Killers Starsha Brown Walden University The Nature of Crime & Criminology August 4, 2015 Introduction Criminal profiling is vital when researchers are trying to identify the key characteristics of a serial killer. Profiling will assist investigators with identifying the types of serial killers as well as decreasing the numbers of victims. The more information that is gathered about the serial killer, the quicker the apprehension of the offender will be. In criminal trials, criminal profiles paint a clear picture of the dynamics that surround serial killing and the intense fantasies that provoke serial killers. In this paper, I will discuss the fundamental behaviors and factors of serial killers (Paul Rowles and John Wayne Gacy) that criminal profilers should be aware of in future serial killer cases.
Serial killings aren’t a new trend. Serial killings can date back to as far as 1798 with the Harpe brothers Micajah and Wiley, whom terrorized the back woods of Kentucky and Tennessee (Tru Tv Crime Library). During the course of the time while being in the serial killers class there have been numerous serial killers discussed, but only a few actually stood out, such as: Ted Bundy, Ed-Gain, John Wayne Gacy and Gary Ridgway. The question that still ponders is, “What Makes a Serial Killer?” Some killings could have been said to be because of a brain abnormality, an abusive childhood, or is the child insane, defined by legal definition? Every individual brain is made up of the same components to make it function.
