Criminal Justice Policy Process Amber Pickett AJS/582 February 4, 2013 Joseph Gutheinz Abstract This manuscript will describe the criminal justice policy process. The manuscript will also include the key actors in the criminal justice policy process, the steps involved in the criminal justice policy process, and suggestions to improve the criminal justice policy process. Criminal Justice Policy Process Crime control policies, protocols, standards, and guidelines are the efforts of the government to protect society from criminals by reducing crime through initiating policies to control criminal justice issues. The actors of the criminal justice policy process unite to determine what laws and policies can make society a safe place for everyone (Marion & Oliver, 2012). The criminal justice policy process reflects what is best for society as a whole and not what is best for individuals.

I will give some synopses on the pedagogic research that has been done on this topic, but also strongly emphasize on each of the three perspectives. I will provide examples, evidence, and information on how this topic has been involved or has played an integral part within the psychological, biological, and sociological realms. After dedicating a fair amount of content on the scholastic research and the encapsulation of the topic, I will then move forward by conveying my opinion and offer some critiques on the research I examined on juvenile delinquency and the impact of family structure. In addition, I will then express any final thoughts I had on this topic, and evaluate how much research on delinquency and family structure was available within each of the

Cohen, Kluegel and Land present the opportunity model of predatory victimization perspective as a basic explanatory model for criminal victimization.
