Creative Thinkers Jane Immel PHIL 458 July 1, 2014 Dr. Michael Tebbano Creative Thinkers Creative thinkers are people that are faced with a situation and make decisions on how to solve the problems effectively and uniquely. Steven Spielberg and Shigeo Shingo have solved many problems through passion and drive in different ways. The following will highlight the decisions and processes these two geniuses discovered and shared with the world. Steven Spielberg’s Unique Contributions to Society Steven Spielberg was one of the earliest pioneers of computer-generated graphics. Other graphics to date looked unrealistic, but Spielberg’s Jurassic Park made dinosaurs look real. Spielberg created several television series that kept Aliens alive such as Terra nova and Taken. Science fiction experienced a resurrection because of Spielberg. He showed that video games such as Medal of Honor could be a viable storytelling tool. He also created a PC game called Steven Spielberg’s Director’s Chair that allowed players to learn to edit movies. Spielberg ended the years of Vietnam storytelling by preserving and shaping the memory of World War II that told both sides of the story. Films Schindler’s List, Saving Private Ryan, Emperor of the Sun, and The Pacific told the stories of our past that shaped our future. These films influenced the opening of the Steven Spielberg Film and Video Archive of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. Spielberg cofounded DreamWorks SKG, a successful company that brought back animated films. Spielberg gave adults the sense of being a kid again with movies like E.T. and the Goonies (Anders, 2011). What Problems or Issues Steven Spielberg’s Ideas Sought to Solve Steven Spielberg is a master storyteller of historical issues.
