She kept the Monarch as the Governor of the church not the Pope which is Protestant, I believe this is a good idea because the Protestants will still think she is a true Protestant and she will be popular with them. On the other hand the Catholics would not be happy with this idea because the Monarch is Protestant; also they may start to hate Elizabeth. As well as Bishops ran the church and an English bible, prayer book was used which are both Protestant. But she kept the candles and crucifixes in the church; this meant that the Catholics actually felt a part of the church and would of felt welcomed to enter. The middle policy won lots of support, she said, ‘I will not make a window into men’s souls, there is only one Jesus Christ, and all else is a dispute over trifles.’ This decision was so important to her and England because if she would of chose the wrong choice for example make England Protestant then there would have been a religious war and the Catholics would rebel.
So religion should be a private affair having nothing to do with the public affairs. However, there is no objection in principle to religious arguments in political debates. If religion stands for moral qualities like love of truth, love for human beings, it would moralise
It’s not like anyone is getting hurt by letting people be happy. This is the United States everyone is supposed to have the same rights. “Gay and lesbian rights are not ‘special rights’ in any way. It isn’t ‘special’ to be free from discrimination - it is an ordinary, universal entitlement of citizenship.” (Bond) But clearly that isn’t how it is anymore. "The Church teaches that respect for homosexual persons cannot lead in any way to approval of homosexual behaviour or to legal recognition of homosexual unions.
Yet, the settlement was clearly not entirely favourable to Catholics. In my analysis, I found that there should be no mass which all Protestants wanted. The Catholics on the other
He also compares the church to a mother in the sense that we try to cover up our mothers faults. When the church makes a mistake Catholics try and compensate for the mistake. The church was also acting like a parent when the sex scandal occurred by shielding its members from it. Pope Francis provided legitimate reasoning in his comparison of the church and mother, but there are also reasoning for why this comparison is not sufficient. Many non-Catholics believe that we as Catholics should not have to confess our sins to a priest, but this is not what Christ wanted. The Sacrament of Penance is good for us and Christ wouldn’t have told His Church to have the sacrament if it wasn’t pertinent for our salvation. This sacrament was instituted by Christ so that we might be granted absolution from our sins after baptism. Although we are confessing our sins to a priest, by no means does that imply that Catholics believe that priests have the power to take away sins. The priests are there so that God can intercede through the priests.
With these facts, gay marriage should not be considered an abomination nor a sin. . Gay Marriage vs. the Bible: Hypocrisy of Life The dream of every young girl is to one day stand before her family, friends, and God and commit her life in marriage to the one she loves. However, the dream of marriage for homosexuals is tarnished with acts of hatred, homophobia, and constant hypocrisy from those that interpret the Bible in a manner that benefits their own personal beliefs and understanding. This is a country based on freedom of religion, yet the religion in which this country was founded on,
Being avid supporters of good health, Mormons are fully encouraged to seek professionals when care is necessary; however, they are cautious as to ensure that they are being prescribed the correct medication and that they understand how to take the medication correctly as to not use the drug in any way other than how it is was intended. The Church does not forbid the use of narcotics, blood products, organ donation, or organ transplantation and leaves such decisions up to the family. To be part of the Church, Mormons effectively see themselves as having something more than others, perhaps clearer insight or superior understanding, which may become problematic to healthcare workers. This often becomes evident when addressing Mormons on their fasting habits and the implications it might have on their health. Mormons fast once monthly to demonstrate their self-control and increase their spirituality.
Some have criticized James in that they thought he was teaching that salvation was by works alone, but in reality he is complementing Paul’s teaching of salvation by faith. The two go hand in hand. Salvation by faith results in holy living (Harper, 1967). The book is included to help believers put their faith into action. It is not enough to talk the talk but to also live it (James 2:14, New Living Translation).
Dressing casually is not a problem in most churches but one still has to consider the views of the Bible. Even though times have changed in Christian churches and attire has become more casual one should not wear casual attire because the Bible says “I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God,” (first Timothy 2:9-10) Everyone knows that following scripture is one of the key elements of religion. The definition of sin is “any act regarded as such a transgression, especially a willful or deliberate violation of some religious or moral principle.” (Dictionary.com) If dressing casually is not what God wants, according to the Bible this means that it is considered to be a sin in which God does not want his followers to commit such transgressions. This is why Christians should not dress casually because God doesn’t want His followers to dress in this manner. When reading Jason Young’s blog “Considering the Motive behind the Act” one will learn that Christians who practice Holiness dress according to the scripture wearing long skirts for women, slacks and a button up for men.
