He really lets you see the beautiful things in something so dark and creepy. Burton’s actions like bullying and judging people for what they look like on the outside and also what they are able to do. He reveals in his film that judging people and bullying can really hurt someone utilizing close ups and lighting to really show expressions on people’s faces when they meet Edward those two cinematic techniques also show what people feel when something happens in Edward Scissorhands. Burton uses close ups in order to express emotions when people are talking. When he uses close ups it really helps convey
Spike Lee’s films, deal with different aspects of the black experience, they are innovative and controversial even within the black community. Spike Lee refuses to be satisfied with presenting blacks in their acceptable stereotypes. His characters are three-dimensional and often vulnerable to moral criticism. Lee’s collection of films with the theme racism, stood out for me because he is more interested in subverting the status quo of black history, so it isn’t just typical films which show racism. I also liked Lee’s intimate describing of his experience, and how some of his films had interesting elements to them because he was part of the black society.
Another stylistic convention that double indemnity uses is the unpleasant weather. Bad weather signifies that something will soon go wrong. It is a reflection of the pessimistic mood of Film Noir. Scenes where bad things happen mainly take place in the night, while day scenes build up the suspense for what will play out later in the night. The weather seems to correlate with the story and the rain is also a connection to water, which is another characteristic of Film Noir This Film Noir film seems a little strange to viewers today with the strange dialoge and Neff’s detective-like narration.
Although, media mostly responds to the negative stories, they cover the positive ones too. The media can influence society by proving more coverage when people in all cultures and races come together in certain situations to help with the act of kindness. For example, during an event that someone needs help all people come together to help regardless of race, ethnicity, color, religion, or other factors. The media is also coming out with more television shows and movies that portray actors of all nationalities, sexual orientations, gender, beliefs, and culture that once were prohibit. These shows and movies help the acceptance into society.
Masculinity and femininity differ vastly in a society due to social construction, actions of men and women, and the social norms in a society and so on. Behaviour is a very important role as it defines people. The behaviour of men and women can sometimes not be acceptable as it can be obscene and vulgar to the public, though this
Procrastination has been around as long as humankind has been existing, but the only deference is the way we are being punished. Back then people where looked at as sinners, and sloth, although; it is a negative punishment towards the results of procrastinating when it has a positive reaction as receiving a check, tax, food, and successful career. In my opinion, being a procrastinator is due to a psychological effect, due to experience as a student and an employee. Most people procrastinate because they are dealing with some type of issue or matter. (Fuschia Sirois pg35) In 2006..the university of Windsor in Ontario reported in a study of 254 adults that procrastinators had higher stress levels and more acute completed jobs in a timely manner.” This situation then affects a person’s health, creating anxiety, and stresses even more due to the facts that he or she is in a position where they have zero privacy to express themselves and from my opinion it can result in having a person becoming psychodynamic.
One method they use is an affirmative action policy. Implementing such policy in a state will help reduce the problem in a wide view; however, within the society, people will always suffer racism in small matters. This means people will be declined social issues at the community level, despite the implementation of the policy at the national level. Likewise, many people support the use of ethics in controlling racism and yet they do not consider the practice at the community level. Racism starts at the ground level, limiting people from benefiting from the social benefits.
The main effect is that ethnic stereotypes affect their normal life and bring so much inconvenience to them. Then, part of stereotypes increase cultural conflict and racial discrimination. It is difficult for people to get together and make friends with others. Meanwhile, we pay more attention on characteristics that stereotypes describe and ignore the special thing of each of us. In conclusion, although racial stereotypes talk about the advantages about them like the whiz-kid, they also have negative effects to people and the
Viewers watching this can see this seemingly made obvious feature of the play may then be able to see something similar happening in real life or relate to it. This can show them how much is actually happening in the world with people not noticing so in a sense, plays like this can be a major eye opener to how we see society. In 12 angry men there is major racism just based on the the fact that the accused comes from the slums. All the jurors in the room have this opinion except for juror 8 who thinks its possible that he didn't do it. The temperature in the room also seems to have an impact on there decisions, at the start its very hot and everyone (except juror 8) is hot, tired and judgemental.
African Americans and the Media Today the media portrays African American males as hoodlums and thugs. The racism present in today’s media needs to be addressed and dealt with. African Americans suffer from institutional racism, are misrepresented in the news, and their portrayals on television are based on negative stereotypes that do not accurately portray reality. If there is not a major change in the media’s policy toward African Americans then this negative stereotype will continue to dominate popular opinion and eventually become an uncontested fact. “Television, or specifically media, is not merely a reflection of reality, it is a mechanism for the creation of reality.” (1) History has proven that the ruling classes in any society
