Corporate Sponsorship in Schools

Many schools today are struggling with acquiring money that is greatly needed to help keep their schools running and their equipment up to date to ensure the best possible education for the student. There is many ways for these schools to do this, some schools try and pass levies or hold fundraisers, but recently a lot of schools have found a different way to receive the money they need and it’s through corporate sponsorships. Schools have been receiving huge one time payments from companies in excess of $500,000 just for the naming rights of facilities. This has become an increasing trend among high schools and I believe that corporate sponsorships of schools is a great idea. For years corporations have sponsored high school sports. You can see their ads are found everywhere from the scoreboard on the football field, the outfield fence at baseball stadiums and even sometimes the locker room. Corporate logos are even found on the uniforms of the players. Now some schools have started to move past corporate sponsorship of sports and have now started to allow companies to place their names and ads on all kinds of school facilities, cafeterias, and auditoriums. These companies have benefited the schools with little to negative effects on the learning environment. Two schools in Sheboygan Wisconsin received $45,000 each just for the kitchens to be called the Kohler Credit Union kitchens. Not only does the sponsoring benefit the schools, the companies are also gaining from it as well. Sponsorships are probably one of the most effective ways of advertising for a company. Sponsorships show the support of the school and the community which improves the overall image of the company the companies and is also able to raise awareness about new products and services and enhance their overall reputation.
