The role of corporate culture has been associated with success and failure. It refers to the set of values, beliefs, goals, norms, and ways of solving problems that the member’s .Some cultures are very strong, but to outsiders they come to represent the character of the entire organization. Components of corporate culture include values, beliefs, customs, rules and ceremonies. Four organizational cultures are apathetic, caring, exacting, and integrative. Ethical issues may arise due to conflicts between culture values perceived by management and values actually work. Memo’s written codes of conduct, handbooks, manuals, forms, and ceremonies are all formal depressions of an organization’s culture. Corporate culture is often expressed informally and can expressed through gestures, looks, labels, promotions, programs and legends. If an organization’s culture reward unethical behavior, people within the company are more likely to act unethically (Ferrell, Fradedrich, Ferrell, 2011). Ethics concentrate on ability of the person. Ethics concentrate on the ability of the person to determine right from wrong, and to evaluate his or her ethics in relation to actions and decision-making. In almost every face of business, education, medicine and public service ethics is an important factor. Developing ethical dilemma scenarios in the classroom builds ethical decision-making practices to be applied in the professional world (Ferrell, Fradedrich, Ferrell, 2011). One example would be the role of a sales person. Because their job is focused on sales, they may say or do whatever they need to get the sale. I view sales people as sometimes being too aggressive, especially over the phone. You may tell the salesperson you can’t afford it and they make it where your “monthly payment” looks affordable.
