Thoracotomy-a surgical opening into the thoracic cavity -maybe performed to diagnose long interested in a biopsy may be performed in this procedure with a small amount of lung tissue removed for analysis the chest incision is then closed Make sure patient is an optimal conditions for surgery Close monitoring of the patient's respiratory and cardiovascular status interventions to prevent complications and the physiological reactions that can occur in response to this major surgical procedure needs to be addressed Sternotomy- A type of incision in the center of the chest, that separates the sternum (chestbone) to allow access to the heart.
