Convocation Day “A graduation ceremony is an event where the commencement speaker tells thousands of students dressed in identical caps and gowns that “individuality” is the key to success.” -Robert Orben Ladies and Gentlemen, a very good evening to one and all. It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you all to the .convocation day at St. Josephs Evening College. 1. College Anthem Music touches the soul, it rejuvenates the soul and inspires. An anthem not just inspires but also gives a sense of responsibility, pride and motivation to dream and achieve. I now call upon the college choir to proffer their rendition. 2. Lighting of the Lamp A lamp does not speak, it introduces itself through its light, achievers never expose themselves but their achievements do. The lamp teaches us a lot of things-to be selfless, to sacrifice, to illuminate, to be determined, to stay consistent. It does not distinguish between a friend and a foe and does not seek anything in return. This burning lamp should be a reminder to all of us to be selfless in order to fulfil the vision of our alma-mater. I now request the dignitaries to come forward and light the lamp. 3. Welcome This is a much awaited event in every students life, as it gives a turn to the efforts put in by them throughout their academic endeavour. It gives a sense of achievement and a sense of responsibility towards fulfilling further commitments. I now call upon Mr. Dav Fod to address the gathering. 4. Convocation Address Henry David once said and I quote “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” The Alma-Mater has instilled confidence in each one of you dear friends. We hope that each of you fly high. I kindly request our chief guest for the evening Sr.
