Some people would think that going to school and working holds the same responsibilities, but it doesn’t. In a way it is somewhat similar, but there are many more differences in the two than people think. I think that the two are like night and day. I intend to prove that by the end of this essay. School is optional but work is not, school is temporary and work is not, you pay to go to school and get paid to go to work, and work is professional and school is personal. One difference in school and work is: school is something you decide to do on your own and work is something you have to do to survive. The decision to further your education after high school is completely up to the person. Its optional. Work is something you’ll have to do your whole life. There, in most cases, isn’t any option when it comes to working. An education is something you do to better yourself. Work is something you do to make money to better your life, paying bills, buying groceries, or to be able to have certain luxuries in life. Depending on what type of degree, school is something you do for a period of time: 2 years, 4 years, or 8 years. I mean school is something you do for a good part of your life but that’s just it, its just part of your life. Work is forever. You will always work before, during, and after you complete schooling until you retire and in most cases you still work doing other things. Being retired doesn’t always mean you can sit back and relax. Especially the way today’s economy is going. Most retired folks have to get little side jobs just to be able to survive. To me there is no way to get around working. If you get tired of school or decide its not for you, you can always hold off for awhile or just never complete it. You can’t really do that with work. If you get tired of your job, sure you can quit. But you better be ready to find
