The invention was a success although it was British troops, 20,000 were killed and 40,000 were injured. This is shocking because the technology was new, when you get something new you test it and wonder if it’s good or not just like the technology in WW1 who knew it would proceed this well the amount of people it injured was amazing. Adding to that the British Vickers machine gun crew WW1 was the first automatic guns had been used in large numbers in a European war, first time lucky they used it in the European war not knowing if it would work or not but surprisingly it was achieved well. Another reason England was so involved David Lloyd George was one of the big three this is shocking because England wasn’t involved at all it started with the Black Hand gang in Franz Ferdinand’s assassination. England hadn’t been attacked on their own territory for over 1000 years and unexpectedly the German airships bombed the south of England However 8,538315 million approximately were killed deaths are expected in war but not on this scale.
They need to not let men die needlessly there were over ’57,470 casualties’ on the first day and the land gained only came to 25 metres. The Battle had no help in breaking the stalemate but helped us realise we need to prepare and execute our plans much better, the planners had no idea how hard the barbed wire was going to be to get through without the shell fire which often made it ‘in a worse tangle than before’. By 1918 the RAF had been formed, and was much stronger than the Royal flying Corps,
Moreover, the Americans were able to keep the number of troops on the ground at a minimum level whilst still being able to attack the communist groups. However, the majority of this campaign resulted in failure for the US. Despite the bombing, the US was not able to reach its core goal of forcing North Vietnam to negotiate with them. Instead, thousands of the North Vietnamese population volunteered to help repair the damage that had been caused by the bombing. Furthermore, in proportion to the damage done, the countryside was mostly affected in comparison to the factories.
The men that came out of trenches had little chance of survival if the enemy opened fire with their machine guns. Although it was not the first action with machine guns, they were used to a greater extent during WWI, and were one of the main weapons that inflicted the majority of the deadly accidents throughout the war. Machine guns were able to shoot hundreds of rounds of ammunition per minute, unlike any other gun that had been used in battles. During the beginning of the war, the senior British army officers were unsure as to how effective the machine guns were, so they usually only gave two to each Battalion. This was much less than the Germans, who were much more aware of the effectiveness.
Iwo Jima as a Crucial Factor in Deciding the Use of the Atomic Bomb The bravery with which the members of both military forces conducted themselves is beyond question: the Japanese resorted to Kamikaze attacks and Seppuku/Hara-kiri in the final days of the battle, whilst 27 Medals of Honor were awarded to sailors and Marines in the battle; more than any other single battle in United States history and one third of the 84 total awarded to Marines in World War II. The United States military expected the capture of Iwo Jima within a week, but the dogged resistance and sheer courage of the Japanese prolonged the
This war set a new high standard in military modernization. Both the German and the French had resupplied their frontline troops to set the stage for both sides to try to make the breakthrough on the battlefield, doing this would ensure each victory. Instead, by year's end, both sides would lose nearly one million men with very little change in position of the front line trenches.
These pikes would be used in a large square formation (called a "hedgehog formation) to protect archers and harquebusiers from cavalry assaults. Although both of these weapons were effective it was very difficult to amass large armies with the skills necessary for their effective use. The longbow took years to learn to use effectively and the Swiss pike required large groups of very well disciplined fighters moving in complex formations. This is in stark contrast to a soldier who could be trained to effectively use a firearm in weeks instead of the years of training needed for the longbow and pike. There was no need to learn marksmanship skills because these early firearms were extremely inaccurate.
According to the National Polls, two thirds of the whole American population believe that the Iraq War is not worth it. The only word that Vice President Dick Cheney replied to this fact was "So". Even though the facts of the Iraq War is evident, the government of the United States choose to rely on senseless optimism to continue to fuel reasons to stay in Iraq longer. Ever since the Iraq War, there have been around four thousand American soldiers that have given their lives to the war. The Iraq war has cost the United States 600 billion dollars so far, and the United States government estimates that this number will rise to around 2 trillion when the war is over.
You decide. Now a days gun are easier to get then STDs and the reason for that is the poorly looked over gun system that we have here in the United States. The type of gun system that we have is so little that a 13 year old child can by a hunters rifle without a license but we have to have one to buy a pistol, that well never get used. The system that we have here in the U.S is not the dream system; ever day children are dying because more and more kids are getting their hands on guns that they are not even supposed to even be thinking about letting alone trying to
Gun Control in America There has been a steady incline of “ mass shootings” in the United States. Over the last ten years, these shootings have been documented to not only increase in occurrences, but also in the severity of the crime and the number of victims whose lives are taken. These unfortunate circumstances leave concerned American citizens little choice than to rally and advocate for stricter gun laws to be passed by Congress. Progress is notably slow as is to be expected. The new bill proposed by President Obama was shot down by Congress and not voted into effect.
