The aim of this paper is to highlight and evaluate this company’s rise to success due to its corporate philosophy as well as its original values. Furthermore, this paper will also be assessing how ethical and social practices are part of the Five Guys’ culture with supportive examples to substantiate this. Now, let’s take a quick look at how this small hamburger chain which has grown rapidly to become one of the fastest growing restaurant franchises in US history in order to analyze and discuss it further. To begin with, Five Guys Burger and Fries restaurant franchise was established in 1986 by Janie and Jerry Murrell, Jerry and the couple's sons, Matt, Jim, Chad, and Ben, being the original "Five Guys". When their two oldest sons: Matt and Jim declared that they were not going to college, their parents decided to use their college fund to open a small hamburger take-out shop in Arlington, Virginia. They then proceeded to name their shop Five Guys and a Burger, after their family of five sons. From this humble beginning, this hamburger chain has grown to over six hundred franchises across the US and Canada. And is one of the few chains that has remained progressive even during these economic times and recession. At this point, let’s take a brief look at the menu and restaurant layout of this popular restaurant chain that attracts so many customers and visitors alike. Their menu hamburgers offered with grilled cheese, bacon as well as kosher style hot dogs vegetable sandwiches. As well as Fresh-cut French fries which are the sole side item.
