YG BHG DATO' CHOON YEE SEIONG Executive Chairman and Group Managing Director Yg Bhg Dato' Choon Yee Seiong, age 55 years, a Malaysian, was appointed to the Board of Directors of Poh Kong Holdings Berhad (PKHB) as Executive Chairman and Group Managing Director on 13 January 2004. As one of the founders of the Company in 1976, he is a visionary entrepreneur, and has helmed the Poh Kong Group since its inception as Poh Kong Jewellers (PKJ). Yg Bhg Dato' Choon is responsible for the overall strategic and marketing directions, management policies and expansion of PKHB. Over the years, he has been instrumental in the acquisition of companies, the successful development of a portfolio of international brands and retail concept stores. He has proven that jewellery retailing is a serious business which requires resilience, mettle, a good head for numbers and, most of all, dedication and passion. Under his leadership, he has expanded PKJ retail stores to 95 outlets making it the largest jewellery chain store nationwide. In 2001, under his supervision, a manufacturing facility in Shah Alam was established to create exclusive designs by a team of skilled master craftsmen. His determination to have the finest in jewellery resulted in the set up of the first ever, exclusive Schoeffel for Poh Kong flagship store at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur in 2007 and was given the exclusive distribution and marketing rights of the Schoeffel brand in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. The following year, Poh Kong and Schoeffel officially launched a range of exquisite watches called the Schoeffel Time Collection. In 2009, Yg Bhg Dato' Choon led Poh Kong in collaborating with Luca Carati, one of Italy's oldest and prestigious jewellers, to launch the exclusive brand in Malaysia.
