Consequences Through results coming from the changes and challenges faced by individuals and companies in career management, the outcome will lead to either good or bad consequences. The good consequences will further improve the individuals’ career status and companies’ performances. However, there are bad consequences that individuals and companies have to face when a situation is not handled properly. Sudden Unemployment For those individuals who did not do enough preparations and planning before they quit their current career with the hope of venturing into a new career will end up being jobless. This might happen due to ‘organisational restructuring’ and ‘downsizing’ which are common in today’s workplace. Maybe an individual might be interested in a career which will provide good income and job satisfaction but that career probably is overloaded with employees. This unforeseen situation will eventually lead to the individuals involved to face financial pressures which can be overwhelming because they have to let go of their luxurious life for the time being due to the sudden cut-off of income following their disorganised career management. Poor employees’ work performance In an organisation, employees’ performances affect organisational performances and in an organisation, there will always be at least one employee that will perform poorly. This is due to the employees’ individual ability and motivation. Ability is the individual’s aptitude as well as the training and resources supplied by the organisation where as motivation is the product of desire and commitment. Usually, an employee who gives 100% of motivation and 75% of ability will be able to achieve an above-average performance, but if the employee has only 25% ability will not be able to achieve the type of performance as expected from the company regardless of his or her level of
