The genocide in Congo can easily be connected to the genocide of Rwanda. One way they are directly connected, is by the rebels who lead the massacre in Rwanda fled to Congo. Also how the U.S. stood by and let the genocide happen, yet again. Congo genocide can also be connected to the Lord's resistance army (LRA). The main cause of the Congo Genocide, can be entitled to the genocide in Rwanda. The rebel groups that lead the genocide of Rwanda, after killing millions of innocent people, fled to eastern Congo after the genocide was over. Since the corrupt lead of Congo at the time, allowed the rebels to stay without doing anything to oust them. This action then forced the Rwandan and Ugandan government to invade Congo: which lead to the massacre of thousands of innocent Congolese. The genocide of Congo can also be connected to the Rwandan genocide, by how the U.N. Seemed to just ignore the fact that they let another genocide go on without intervening. The United Nations passed an act stating they would never allow a genocide to go unpunished. But for some reason , even after they let the genocide in Rwanda happen, they still didn't do anything about the rebel groups and armies that were responsible for committing the horrible acts against innocent people. The way the U.N. has allowed for genocide to happen not once but twice without anything being done, this could easily have other countries dis-trusting the U.N. especially the U.S. The third connection was to the LRA. The LRA is significant to the Congo genocide because they were said to have a big part in murdering the people of Congo. The LRA, lead by Joseph Kony, was allowed to run rampant during the war in Congo, and they were able to abduct thousands of people, and able to rape and pillage without being matched or confronted by any other militia group.
