Conduct disorders are not new concerns for our youth. Throughout the last century there has been a lot of research done on the early on-set of antisocial behavior and how it relates to conduct disorders with many different levels. Although the vast amount of the research has been in the fields of psychology: experimental, educational, social, personality, educational and clinical psychology. The other major fields are criminal justice and sociology. However the they all have had different approaches to dealing with the issue of conduct and behavior disorders. Current research is showing that integration of biology and with maladaptive rearing environments over an individuals development, to facilitate understanding of the etiology of the early onset of conduct disorders in children. Perhaps the best way to understand the problem of conduct disorders is to understand the different terminology used to describe these types of children. Throughout time children have been referred to as violent, aggressive, oppositional, conduct disorder, behavior disorder, under aroused, delinquent, bad, and antisocial. The reason for this is because you have many different areas that serve these types of children school, criminal justice and mental health professionals. All the different terms can be very confusing when trying to define conduct disorders. What is the basic definition of Conduct Disorder? "Conduct disorder" refers to a group of behavioral and emotional problems in youngsters. Children and adolescents with this disorder have great difficulty following rules and behaving in a socially acceptable way. They are often viewed by other children, adults and social agencies as "bad" or delinquent, rather than mentally ill.
