We are all guilty of abusing modern technology at some point in our lives, we take for granted our abilities as human beings, and rely on technology for the majority of daily tasks; mistakenly thinking it’s making our society more efficient. Computer technology has not made this a more efficient society; in fact, it has generally made us more inefficient. A few decades ago, a single computer was so big that it required a big room to fit in, and it used to be surrounded by fans and other cooling equipment to keep the temperatures down to a functional level. Today that same technology is pocket size and considerably mobile making it available to more consumers. The ability of computers to process data and enable a person to reach a logical end of a particular task with ease is amazing, we save time and valuable human effort. But we also lose valuable knowledge and skill in the process. Skill’s like Mathematics and logic are lacking in our generation and could continue to diminish; dumbing down modern society considerably. It could be that students are using more visual media, and no one medium is good for everything. You need a balance in terms of what skills you want to develop. By using more visual media students will process information better; however, most visual media is real time, which doesn’t allow time for analysis or imagination; therefore, more and more skills are being lost. Mass communication technology has made it easier than ever to connect with people. At the same time this raises the concern of whether technology has a good or bad influence on our society. The primary concern regarding this new communication behavior is whether it made face-to-face interaction and communication between people nonexistent. This is true in many aspects as this may lead to living in a virtual world that only includes interacting with people with texting and social
