With advancements in technology, some students have chosen to complete their schoolwork through the Internet, rather than in traditional classrooms. Those who support a traditional classroom approach to learning argue that it provides more of an opportunity for students to interact with the teacher and other students. Those who feel that learning over the Internet is better argue that it allows students to learn anytime and anywhere they choose. Do you feel education is better provided in traditional classrooms or when offered over the Internet? Write an essay to be read by a classroom teacher in which you persuade the reader that either traditional classroom education or Internet-based learning is better. With advancements in technology, some students have chosen to complete their schoolwork through the Internet, rather than in traditional classrooms.
People can make video conference, download music, create DVDs and CDs, communicate with people all around the world, and endless things on laptop or desktop computer. Yet despite these similarities, there are a lot of differences between these kinds of computer. Laptops offer some advantages that desktops don’t. First at all is the portability. A laptop is easily to carry anywhere; it is perfect for students, and professionals who require a computer while on the move if they need to give presentations or access internet while away from home.
How did technology make our life easy? For example, the people would say Internet is good for us so that we can have information resources and communication platform (48). We conveniently ignore the fact that it could lead to Internet addiction. Technology has made our life easy, but we easily forgot that it has made us overly dependent on it. Technology has influenced modern life in many ways and with its every advancement; people may find themselves wondering how these things are possible.
Informative videos and study aids are also available at the touch of a finger for students who struggle in certain subject. Overall, students participating in these forms of study outperform students using only conventional textbooks. Additionally, ipads cut down greatly on time wasted within the classroom. Instead of transcribing every miniscule note the teacher makes onto paper, students can have the option to take pictures of important charts and documents, or to even video a lecture for later reference. The opportunities are endless within the classroom with the addition of an ipad, and I would love to reap the benefit.
I believe the educational environment is one of the most important places where the computer is placed. Computers have become an integral part of the education as they allow students and teachers access to information; helps in research projects; and prepares teachers for their jobs. Computer technology has given me the dream of distance learning a reality. I no longer have to limit myself to the classroom. I am able to learn from the comfort of my home and on my schedule.
This is fun for the students to do, and they can post short stories, poems, class homework, and many personally created activities. The internet can also give teachers a chance to post websites that will give students their grades, homework, study guides, and necessary information for the particular class. Smart boards are also very useful tools which give the teacher multiple ways to share their information. They are great for demonstrations, can accommodate different learning styles, and gives internet uses if computers are limited. Although the expand of technology in the past couple years is very beneficial and time saving, there are also some concerns I have about the growth.
With the thriving of the computer industry, it breeds a new term- computer literacy, computer literacy is an understanding of the concepts, terminologies and operations that relate to general computer use. It is the essential knowledge needed to function independently with a computer. This functionality includes the ability to solve and avoid problems, adapt to new situations, keep information organized and communicate effectively with other computer literate people. (Computer Literacy USA 2007 cited in Helen Mele p1). And it seems that the computer literacy is very important which particularly effect contemporary young people’s mental development.
I feel that going to school online is a better way of learning for me, because I can focus on one subject at a time and not having to rush through my work and not learn. I feel that people have different ways of learning and some people cannot get away from home because of kids and work and then again some people can go to college which can be fun for them. I feel it all depends on how you learn and what you can do. 3. Why am I interested in exploring this idea?
Unlike with traditional classes where you can meet people and form study groups for the class. Also when doing group projects it is a lot easier to be able to meet and work with them without having to worry if your group members will log into class and participate. Online classes can save you money because you do not need to buy school supplies. You only need is a laptop. In traditional classes you need books, traditional supplies, and any additional supplies the class requests.
During my last observation I viewed a 10 year old female within a fifth grade classroom. Because I plan to work within a high school I decided it would be best if I choose a student within that setting. The difference between the two was immense. I felt as though observing and taking notes on a younger child is much easier due to the fact that there is more lively movement within the classroom. In contrast, a classroom made up of 11th and 12th grade students is much more calm and structured and therefore much more difficult to note take.
