Comparison Matrix Paper Danet Garcia Lopez Grand Canyon University LDR-800 Introduction The purpose of this paper is to make a comparison between empirical articles on leadership practices that relate to the ethical use power, authority and motivation. Along the lines of this paper, I am going to describe three articles in the areas mentioned. The first article is “Potential power and power use: An investigation of structure and behavior” by Daniel J .Brass and Marlene E. Burkhardt (1993). Brass and Burkhardt (1993) investigate the association among the configuration and performance and the probable collaboration effects on insights of influence in the organization. The second article used during this comparison paper is titled “Mutually dependent: Power, trust, affect and the use of deception in negotiation” written by Mara Olekalns and Philip L. Smith (2009). The goal of the second article was to study how honesty and authority equilibrium affected disappointment. The third article in this comparison paper is “Power, moral clarity, and punishment in the workplace” by Scott S. Wiltermuth and Francis J. Flynn (2013). Wiltermuth and Flynn (2013) discussed the inferences between punishment by individuals with a bigger sense of authority and the ethical clearness. The three articles used in this paper have the similarity of study about the use, the perception and the consistency use of power in a workplace. Also, how the subordinates see and have been affected by the used of the power. Research Questions Brass and Burkhardt (1993) conducted their study asking the relation on the interactive tactics and the operational positions. They also intend to answer if the performance and the position arrangements have independent effects on authority.
