Research Study Paper Jessica Smith Grand Canyon University: LDR 802 July 15, 2015 Research Study Paper If an individual has a goal or aspiration in mind and can persuade other individuals to help in that goal, he or she is considered a leader. The key to leadership is having influence. Leadership is measured as a process which means that leaders not only influence others, but can be influenced by others. Leadership has many forms and involves various facets of leading. This review offers an evaluation of empirical articles on the topic of leadership. The first article is entitled “What is the Value? Economic Effects of Ethically-Oriented Leadership,” written by Cluadia Peus, Rudolf Kerschreiter, Dieter Frey, and Eva Traut-Mattausch. The second article is entitled “Does CEO Charisma Matter? An Empirical Analysis of the Relationships Among Organizational Performance, Environmental Uncertainty, and Top Management Team Perceptions of CEO Charisma,” written by Bradley R. Agle, Nandu J. Nagarajan, Jeffrey A. Sonnenfeld, and Dhinu Srinivasan. The third article is entitled “Charismatic Leadership and Follower Effects,” written by Jay A. Conger, Rabindra N. Kanungo, and Sanjay T. Menon. Peus, Kerschreiter, Frey and Traut-Mattausch’s (2010) purpose for writing this article is centered on the reality that leadership and ethics have been covered from a normative and philosophical approach, but yet to be covered from a social scientific angle. Peus et al. (2010) cover the constructs of authentic, spiritual, transformational, and ethical as it relates to ethically-oriented leadership. Agle, Nagarajan, Sonnenfeld, and Srinivasan (2006) study the connection among strategic charismatic leadership, environmental uncertainty and organizational performance.
