A Comparison of Two Websites about ALS(1,764) Lou Gehrig’s disease is the common name for a neurodegenerative disease also known as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Even though the disease had been known about for a long time it didn’t really gain its notoriety until the baseball player Lou Gehrig was diagnosed with the disease and forced into an early retirement due to the pain it caused him in his body from the deterioration of his spinal cord. The two websites, ALS Association (alsa.org) and the website from the U.S. National Library of Medicine (ncbi.nlm.nih.gov), are both informative websites all about a specific disease and what goes along with it, but while one website is well organized and neat the other is disorganized and jumbled…show more content…
When you first go onto the official home page of the non-profit ALS organization, at alsa.org, you know exactly what the site is allocated to because of the large logo, the short explanation underneath and the professional way everything is organized. One of the first things you come across are the tabs, sectional areas for easy access to all the site has to offer, and the large logo of the sponsoring organization on the home page. The tabs even have the ability to where if you hold your cursor over it there appears the selections of what is going to be on the page of that tab and the ability to go directly to that information just by clicking on it. With that ability there if you were looking for something specific it would be easy to find it. next is the top of the page where there is a search bar, along with a drop down box allowing you to search for things
