A hero is a mythological or legendary figure of great strength or ability. In the book Mythology by Edith Hamilton Odysseus is a the king of Ithaca island and as forced to go fight in the Trojan War, and on his journey back home he went many challenges and discovered new things. In the book Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter is a young wizard who was mysteriously entered into the Triwizard Tournament and had to go trough some hard challenges to prove that he to can be a champion. Odysseus and Harry Potter represent the idea hero archetype because they are both brave and selfless, and although the hero archetype has changed over time they are both still looked up to as role models from their society. Odysseus is a perfect match to the hero archetype from his time period because of the bravery that he portrays through out his journey and the selflessness he has towards others. He is brave because he left his family to go fight in Troy not knowing whether he would survive or not. Odysseus showed his bravery by confronting the Trojans and tricking them into bringing the horse into Troy. Because of that, Odysseus and his men were able to attack and defeat the Trojans. Harry shows that he is selfless when he saves not only Ron but also the little sister of Fleur. In the second task Harry and the three other champions dived into the water where they would rescue only one of their friends, but Harry rescues two. After diving into the water he was the first to rescue his one friend and having a chance of coming in first place but instead he waits until everyone has been saved. When Harry realized that Fleur never came to rescue her sister he then saved her and made his way back above water. Harry shows that he is brave by standing up to Lord Voldemort in the grave yard.
