When he meets Rainsford and tells him about his idea for the most dangerous game, he tells him that he is going to hunt him. Zaroff thinks that putting Rainsford into the woods to fight for his survival will lead to an easy win for himself. Zaroff is wrong. General Zaroff is afraid of being bored. He is afraid that he will conquer every game there
Seasons Change; People Kill “Hunting? Good God, General Zarroff, what you speak of is murder” (Connell 15). Irony lurks in this quotation and explodes throughout the entire work of “The Most Dangerous Game.” The two most essential characters’ oppositions collide, blend, and finally reverse each other. Initially, Rainsford is the protagonist, but at conclusion of the story, he has become the villain. Rather than ending the “game” as the victorious hunter as Zaroff would have liked, the murderer becomes the hunted, Rainsford’s victim.
Also he then falls in love with IIsa which keeps showing his side of a lover and a man’s man. It again shows his lust and attempt to win her back from when he last saw her and how he just wants to be with her. The man’s man truly is used to show the human condition during and after the war. It is based on lust and greed and only looking out for oneself showing the shallowness of society at the time. Another trait used that is similar to the traits of film noir is that Rick is always in control of the situation.
His sense of over-entitlement led him to be easily manipulated into killing his good friend and leader King Duncan. Duddy likely inherited his love of wealth from members of his family. He even shows movies he dislikes as a result of his desire for money, seen in the quote "Duddy didn't say a word all through the screening but afterwards he was sick to his stomach." (159) While his father does not place a large importance on wealth, his extremely wealthy uncle proves to have a lasting effect on his development as Duddy is instilled with a desire for wealth. Likewise, Macbeth is easily tempted into killing and manipulating many simply due to the desire for power and social praise.
Just like a wicked vampire, his “red lips and pointed teeth” reveal his real personality. Zaroff’s appearance unfolds his cruelness. What Zaroff says and does, reveals his disregard for human life. He believes that hunting humans is “a game.” He hunts “lascars, blacks, Chinese, and whites” as if they were “scum.” He is so bloodthirsty, he doesn’t even consider how alarmed these humans might be; he just wants to cure his “boredom.” To add on, Zaroff even called himself a “savage, like all his race.” Zaroff does not have any respect for the feelings of his “quarry,” he inhumanly hunts them. To him, weak people are on Earth to “give the strong pleasure.” Zaroff’s words and actions show that he is malicious.
I wish I weren’t, but I am. I’ve wrestled with it but I can’t escape it, anymore than – until death – one can escape ones skin.” Having been hunting myself I understand his feelings in that he loves and appreciates nature but also loves the hunt and sometimes they can provide conflicting
5a: I think that they different because Zaroff from the beginning to kill humans and even though they are both hunters and killers, Rainsford had no choice but to kill Zaroff . Rainsford would never take hunting to that level and Zaroff is proud of his idea to kill humans. What is a quote from the story that catches the theme? 6a: The quote that explains the theme of the story is explained by the quote “The world is made up of two classes--the hunters and the huntees. Luckily, you and I are hunters.” This quote shows that Rainsford thinks that violence is perfectly fine when hunting animals and Zaroff would agree with the quote as well.
Now you eat, all of you, and I.” Jack wants everyone to appreciate him for his kill. Jack throws the piece of meat at Simon because he is frustrated and Simon is easy to pick on. This shows how Jack is willing to be a true hunter. Sometimes Jack has a kind heart but on the other hand he can also be a bully. “Fear can’t hurt you anymore than a dream.
One reason why I chose that it was an ultimate act of betrayal is because it’s very mean to shoot and kill your best friend. That’s called being a traitor. When you are suppose to be their for your friend, you cant jus turn around and stab them in the back. Just picture it like this, put yourself into George’s position and put one of your best friends into
If Rainsford had chance to leave and didn’t because he wanted to kill the man who hunted him do you think that is wrong. I do. I believe he was wrong because he turned into another Zaroff. Next, i believe he was wrong because he lost his humanity and became a beast like Zaroff. Finally, I believe he was wrong because when Zaroff shot humans it was wrong and we thought he was savage ,but wasn’t Rainsford doing the same thing when he shot Zaroff that was a savage and in our minds we try to justify that when it was just as wrong.
