In recent years, with rapid economic growth and accelerated integration into world market, increasing attention is being paid to the marketing. To some extent, marketing has stayed the same for many years, but as technology has developed, it has had affects on marketing in recent years. Since the evolution of internet, new modes of marketing, such as e-marketing and online marketing have become ever more established in every day life, which brought along new opportunities for marketing. This essay will present the definition of marketing, internet marketing and marketing mix, and then it will stress on the similarities and differences between internet and traditional marketing according to marketing mix: product, price, place, promotion. Finally, this paper will analyze these two marketing styles, and prioritize which one is appropriate 21st century in the clothing industry. When companies start up, their main goal is to make profit and accomplish a successful growth. Therefore, marketing is considered to be a major connection. There are numerous of definitions of marketing, according to Proctor (2007: 2), “Marketing is the management process responsible for identifying, anticipating and satisfying stakeholder requirements and in so doing serves to facilitate the achievement of the organization’s objectives.” Traditional marketing existed as a main type of marketing for a long time. However, in the era of network economy, traditional marketing is being changed. Internet, which has brought lots of opportunities for marketers, has affected marketing process by providing opportunities that were not available by using traditional marketing tools. Compared with traditional marketing, internet marketing can be defined as: “achieving marketing objectives through applying digital technologies (Chaffey et al, 2006: 8).” However, they both have same factors of
