The ice has already been effected by the temperature change that has already happened, like melting different glaciers and ice shelves, that then can change sea levels. If the temperature continues to rise, even just slightly, it will gradually continue to melt some of the ice and change the environment. With the increase of temperature, Antarctica is becoming greener, and there are even parallels seen to what it used to be like in earlier periods, which was warmer, ice free, and greener. Moss growth has continued to increase with the temperature change and will continue to grow as temperatures increase. Many animals in Antarctica are dependent on ice, but as temperatures increase and ice melts, their populations decrease.
Like any story in the media it started out small when people started to realize what we were really doing as people who are a part of the modern consumer society. Unfortunately, man’s quest in the past 30-40 years of expanding his grasp to the far reaches of the world have accelerated the clock on our glaciers and have left the future generations to deal with the consequences. Why this warming event is happening can be pointed to several sources. These sources are: the ever-increasing population in the world, impacts that have affected the more famous areas of glacier melting (Alps, Andes etc. ), the warming of climate change as well as industrialization of people.
In this food chain of climate change, the major sub category is the constant temperatures change. It begins from Global Warming, which is a result of pollution. Where is all this pollution coming from? The answer is the human race. Driving cars that release off fumes, the burning of coal, and fossil fuels, people who don’t recycle.

Global warming may seem more realistic for a mammal living in the north than it does to humans living in urban regions. Some of the coldest spots on Earth have warmed up and continue to warm up which is resulting in centuries old ice caps melting, rivers running dry, and coasts eroding and as a result, threatening communities[1]. I will be covering the aspects, causes and effects of Global Warming. There are many definitions of Global Warming. One of these is that “ Global warming refers to an average increase in the Earth's temperature, which in turn causes changes in climate.”(EPA) The temperature increase can lead to changes in the average rainfall results, the sea levels can rise, and it may have many impacts on wildlife, plants of humans. The Global Warming is mainly cause by humans. The Green House Effects is one of the main causes of this warming.

The Earth’s average temperature has risen 0.6°C, while areas in the Arctic have risen up to 3.0°C in the last 20th century (Gardiner, 2008). Increasing temperatures have already caused changes in the Arctic such as; sea ice covering the Arctic has decreased in area and thickness due to melting of ice and snow, the warming of permafrost, snow cover area has also decreased, and ice on the rivers will freeze later during fall and break up earlier in spring. But why are these Polar Regions more vulnerable to climate change? This is due to the light colour of snow and ice and high albedo, which reflects the solar energy back into space. Due to the increase in greenhouse gases less solar energy is reflected back into space and more solar radiation is absorbed by the Earth causing the increase in ice and snow melting (Main & Ahlenius, 2011).
