Comparing and Contrasting Prom Night In 1980, Paul Lynch directed Prom Night and in 2008 Nelson McCormick directed the remake. The 2008 version is more superior than the 1980 version, not because it was old or classic but because the storyline is told better. These two films have differences but then again have similarities. Prom Night 2008 is about a professor with a satanic obsession with one of his students which is Mr. Richard Flenton and Donna Keppel. I find it more thrilling. This 2008 version is based on obsession. Obsession is more intense than revenge because obsession will make the person do whatever it takes to get what they want. The 1980 version of Prom Night was more about revenge. The whole revenge theme ends with sentimental emotions because in the end the person who got revenge ends with nothing. Prom Night 1980 and 2008 have differences and similarities the storyline, it's way different. The actors are different as well. The villains in these movies have a different purpose for their killings. The scenes were shot at different places, These films were meant to be a horror and mystery movie. Both films had a killer and most importantly, it was prom night. The genre of both films is horror and mystery. Yes, the 1980 version did have mystery but, not so much horror. On the other hand Prom Night 2008 has mystery, horror, thrill, and suspense. "Horror Films are unsettling films designed to frighten and panic, cause dread and alarm and to invoke our hidden worst fears, often in terrifying shocking finale, while captivating and entertaining us at the same time in a cathartic experience (Horror Films)". This definition defines the film Prom Night 2008. Prom Night 2008 was more subordinate in the genre because throughout the entire movie it shows the horror, mystery, and even the thrill. The 1980 version shows some but it also shows a lot of lust
