Kelly’s Taproom is our most direct competition since it tends to attract both our niche market due to its prime location near colleges and universities and older guests. This “mixed bag” of guests creates a disparity and slight awkwardness between these two demographics; our niche 18-30 year old, young adult market is looking to have fun, where the older guests tend to just want a drink and possibility of a burger, not a raucous dance party. Thus, due to the lack of establishments directly targeting this 18-30 year old college student and young professional demographic, we know O’Houlihan’s Tavern will stand out and be successful in directly talking to our target
The thoughts of his friends degrading him for eating “Asian” food for lunch dwelled in his subconscious for months, or perhaps even years. The story is focused on a teenage boy giving instructions about readiness for a date. The way a character acts, behaves, and reveals his personal beliefs can articulate a lot about them. From the way Yunior offers his advice, readers can determine that he has no pride in his culture and is willing to pretend to be someone else to impress his admirers. One can also assume that the narrator is not reliable at times because he is misguided by the pre-conceived notions about particular ethnicities. The narrator in this short story guides the readers through dating guidance by giving us stereotypical characteristics of a particular race.
The factors that aid active listening are: Focusing on the individual, appropriate body language, maintaining eye contact, appropriate facial expressions, allowing sufficient time, making encouraging sounds, allowing pauses and allowing silence. (Some of these factors have been covered in Soler, the theory composed by Gerard Egan). The first factor is to allow sufficient time. In order to keep to this, practitioners must resist rushing a conversation. This is done to let the person know that the focus of interaction is on them.

Sourdis personality was very passive unlike her sister’s aggressive and active personality. For example, at the restaurant in the beginning of the story, she let a random man out his arm around her even though she felt distressed. Her sister, having the more aggressive personality did not hesitate to stab the man in the arm in protection of her sister. Another example is when Sourdi’s mom basically forced her to marry Mr. Chhay and not Duke because Mr. Chhay was rich. Although it all depends on the situation, I manage to make things happen and not wait for the “flow” to take control of what goes on in my life.
