Constitution Paper By: April 13, 2015 HIS/110 Instructor: Constitution of the United States In the 1700’s men came up with a set of laws that they felt could aid the people of the US. There were some objections with the Decoration of Independence that the Constitution was capable to address. The Constitution was capable to detect and address weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation. There are some explanations why the Constitution changed and it aided for the US. The Great Compromise was an official contract for the big and small states that have two representatives in the upper house for each state.
An amendment is ratified if three-fourths of the states legislatures voted for it or by conventions in three-fourths of the states. (b) Two informal methods that have been used to change the meaning of the Constitution are judicial interpretation and incorporation of traditions, precedent and practice. Judicial interpretation is the way which the Supreme Court chooses how the Constitution is to be interpreted to the extent of most constitutional. Interpretation can be changing with changing times, socially and culturally. Judicial review was established through judicial interpretation in court case Marbury v. Madison.
Today American government is a representative democracy; the land has three branches, which the Constitution has given equal power. This all changes with the new theory backed by Republican President George W Bush. The Theory The unitary executive theory is a belief that all executive power and authority belongs to the president. It is derived from a Constitutional interpretation of Article II of the U.S Constitution claiming that power is given to the President and only he has the right to execute law in the executive branch. As American politics has changed, so has the power of the president.
The Presidents greatest powers lie within foreign policy. He is Commander-In-Chief of the armed forces and it is their job to defend the USA from all foreign threats. They can order the use of troops overseas for 90 days without declaring war however; after the 90 days and if they want to declare war officially they have to get the approval of the Congress. But the President has often taken military action without declaration of war. American Presidents have authorized military force abroad more than 225 times.
3. Chief Diplomat- The president shapes and administrates the nation’s foreign policy. 4. Commander in Chief- The president is the supreme military commander of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guards. He decides to send troops into wars.

Some cause for concerns can be found in the first writing of the Constitution (the one that will soon be thoroughly discussed) and some lay in more recent Amendments. However, we must not forget that these voices can only be discussed out loud for all opinions to be made on it because of the foresight of those in our past that demanded such rights before approving the Constitution as the foundation of our new government. The Constitution that was written before the ratification debate was adequate in its democracy, but fell short of its goal of creating a government that incorporates all of the citizens views equally and effectively. The Constitution divides the power between the three government
After I formed a rough draft my thesis I went to the library for book sources and online for web, newspaper and journal sources. I read and looked through my sources while writing down useful information and good support for my paper. My example I am using from the Huffington Post is a Dick Cheney article that is about an interview with the former Vice President in which he defends the interrogation methods such as water boarding used on alleged terrorist.
