Plot, Cast, Screenplay, Flaws, Structure and Acting are the areas where I’ll be reviewing this movie. Two sisters, one a young beauty who chooses passion over logic, the other a law student who’s fixed moral keeps her from following her desires, are taken from their luxurious home when their father suddenly passes away. Out of money and out of options, the women move into their Great Aunt Aurelia's house in East LA, where they find themselves thrown into a world that, despite their heritage, seems completely foreign. Over time, they discover the beauty of the culture they once fought so desperately to hide. And in the process they find the one thing that had eluded them: love.
Curley’s wife was young and lived with her mother before living with Curley on a ranch. Her dream was to become an actress in Hollywood to become a star on film and everyone wants to meet and talk to her, she wanted to be famous. Curley's wife married him to get away from her mother who she thinks has ruined her chance of becoming a famous Hollywood actress. Curley's wife met a man who was "in the shows" at the local dance palace. The man told Curley's wife he could get her on the show but her mother said no because ‘’she was too young’’.
They are the main characters in the movie Pretty in Pink. Pretty in Pink depicts the teenage love affair between Andie, a poor and unpopular girl from the “wrong side of the tracks” and Blane a rich and popular guy. The movie is presented as a twist on the Cinderella story, and effectively it is. Andie, an underprivileged Cinderella, has to choose between two prom princes, a rich guy of her dreams (Blane), or the person who dedicated his life to her (Duckie). The story throughout the film follows sequential order of Andie and Blane falling in love and dealing with each several obstacles.
Clara’s conflict with Esteban is witnessed during her second pregnancy when she announces she is expecting twins named; Jaime and Nicolas. Esteban is openly disappointed, reason being that Clara doesn’t name one of the twins after him. He goes to a brothel in town known as Christopher Columbus. Clara with her feminist character meets one person whom they become close friends with and that is Esteban’s sister, Ferula. She invites Ferula to move in with them in their family house that Esteban designed to look as European as possible.
She lost a shoe while riding out and several people offered to pick it up for her if she'd marry them (a fishmonger, a rice broker, an oil merchant, and finally a scholar whom she finally married). When they came back to her home, the sister sneakily pushed Beauty into a well and covered it with a blanket (Beauty lost consciousness and drowned). Beauty's family told the scholar that she had smallpox. Pock Face fooled the scholar that she actually was Beauty and looked like that after the small pox. Beauty came back as a sparrow and the scholar figured out that it was Beauty and kept it as a pet in a golden cage.
She does, however have flaws, she is not very intelligent, and she sacrifices her love in favor of life twice; when Prince Humperdinck proposes, with the alternative being death, marriage, and when he threatens Buttercup’s and Westley’s lives again outside the Fire Swamp. In the film, Buttercup is played by Robin Wright, who fits the physical description, with long blonde hair and pale skin. Her personality is good natured but simple, her only passion Westley. The only time
Rosaura is the main character in the “Stolen Party” and came from a poor family. One day she was invited to her rich study partner’s birthday party and asked her mother if she could go. Rosaura’s mother worked for the rich girls mom Senora Ines. She did not think it was a good idea for Rosaura to attend the party due to their social differences but her mom let her go anyway. Rosaura had a blast at the party; she won all the games and got to see the magician’s monkey ahead of time.
In Perrault’s version of the fairy tale, Cinderella is the protagonist. She is a beautiful, hard-working girl who is mistreated by her stepsisters and stepmother “who employ[ed] her in the meanest work of the house” (Perrault). Cinderella’s hard work is not her choice, but only because her family forces her to do all of the housework. However, Cinderella has a godmother that is a fairy. Cinderella’s godmother gives Cinderella everything she needs to attend the ball by striking certain things with her wand.
Kingston’s story “A Song for a Barbarian Reed Pipe” employs numerous fantasy elements in depicting her separation from the restrictiveness of China and further, her discovery of harmony between her ancient family’s culture and her new American one. Navigating through confusion and anger, Kingston is ultimately able to remove herself her Chinese bindings and find a sense of accord between her past and her future. Kingston’s rhetoric conveys her struggle with the complexities of her Chinese culture and her inability to come to a core truth. Furthermore, she gravitates toward American culture for its simplicity. Kingston is having difficulties sorting fact from fiction in her mother’s story about Moon Orchid’s encounter with her husband.
My family acknowledges that God is the source of all of these comforts. Hence, we do not forget to thank and praise him for his inherent benevolence. Fourth, my family practices cooperation within especially among us, children. We do household tasks together and each one is willing to do the assigned task to another in case the other fails to perform his task. Fifth, mutual respect is one of the greatest strengths of my family.
